Belgian Supercup
The Belgian Super Cup ( ; ; ), ''Pro League Supercup'', is a Belgian club competition played as a single match between the Belgian Pro League champions (also received the Super Cup host) and the Belgian Cup winners. If both teams are the same, the Belgian Cup runners-up participates as the second club. The most successful Super Cup club is Club Brugge with 17 titles, followed by Anderlecht (13), Standard Liège (4), Genk (2), Beveren (2) and Lierse (2). It was created in 1979 and held every year since, with the only exception 1989 and 2020. The current holders are Union SG, who defeated Club Brugge in the 2024 Belgian Super Cup. The 2004 Belgian Supercup was a football match between the winners of the previous season's Belgian First Division and Belgian Cup competitions. The match was contested by Cup winners Club Brugge, and 2004–05 Belgian First Division champions, Anderlecht on 22 December 2004 at the ground of the league champions as usual, in this case the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium. Club Brugge won its twelfth supercup in total, as it beat Anderlecht 2-0 through goals by Sebastian Hermans and Rune Lange. The match was contested by Cup winners La Louvière, and 2002–03 Belgian First Division champions, Club Brugge on 2 August 2003 at the ground of the league champions as usual, in this case the Jan Breydel Stadium. La Louvière took an early lead through Vervalle, with Nastja Čeh providing the equalizer just before the hour mark. The 2001 Belgian Supercup was a Association football, football match between the winners of the previous season's 2000–01 Belgian First Division, Belgian First Division and 2000–01 Belgian Cup, Belgian Cup competitions. The match was contested by Cup winners K.V.C. Westerlo, Westerlo, and 2000–01 Belgian First Division champions, R.S.C. Anderlecht, Anderlecht on 4 August 2001 at the ground of the cup winners Westerlo, Het Kuipje. In an animated match, the home team took an early lead through Francis Severeyns and looked on their way to an easy win as after twenty minutes played Anderlecht was down to ten men following a red card for Aruna Dindane. In the second half however, Anderlecht managed to score four goals to win the cup despite being a man down, including a hattrick by Seol Ki-hyeon. The 1999 Belgian Supercup was a football match between the winners of the previous season's Belgian First Division and Belgian Cup competitions. The match was contested by Cup winners Lierse, and 1999–2000 Belgian First Division champions, Genk on 1 September 1999 at the ground of the league winners Genk, the Fenixstadium. Lierse won the cup after two late goals by Stein Huysegems. Prior to the match, Genk coach Jos Heyligen criticised the timing of the match during the week of international matches, as five players in his squad were unavailable due to being called-up for their respective national team, namely Branko Strupar, Marc Hendrikx, Ferenc Horváth, Þórður Guðjónsson and Bjarni Guðjónsson. With several others injured, the Genk squad for the Super Cup included only 13 first team players together with four youngsters from the U23 squad.
