Andrew Bayes
Andrew Bayes (born February 11, 1978) is an American former football punter. He played college football for the East Carolina Pirates, earning consensus All-American honors in 1999. Early life Bayes first attended Suitland High School in Forestville, Maryland before transferring to DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. College career Bayes played for the East Carolina Pirates from 1996 to 1999. He was a consensus All-American in 1999. He led Division I-A football in punting average in 1999 with 48.06 yards per punt, which remains a Conference USA and East Carolina single-season record. Bayes was also named first-team Conference USA in 1999 and second-team Conference USA in 1998 and 1997. He played in the Senior Bowl in 1999. Gilbert Bayes
Gilbert William Bayes (4 April 1872 – 10 July 1953) was an English sculptor. His art works varied in scale from medals to large architectural clocks, monuments and equestrian statues and he was also a designer of some note, creating chess pieces, mirrors and cabinets. Career Bayes was born in London into a family of artists, his father being Alfred Walter Bayes, an established artist at the time. He was one of four children and brother to both the well-known artist and critic Walter Bayes, and to the Arts & Crafts designer Jessie Bayes. Gilbert Bayes studied at the City and Guilds of London Art School and then at the Royal Academy Schools between 1896 and 1899, where he won a gold medal and a travelling scholarship to Paris. Jessie Bayes
Jessie Bayes (b. 1876 Hampstead, London - d. 1970) was a British Arts & Crafts artist who specialized in miniature paintings, illuminated manuscripts, stained glass, iconography and more. Biography In the earlier part of her life, Bayes did not have much technical training in the arts, but was born into a family of artists. She studied under her brother Walter Bayes, who was a well known artist and critic at the time. She was sister to Gilbert Bayes and Emmeline Bayes as well. Her father Alfred Walter Bayes, was an artist who regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts. In 1906 she became a member of the ''Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers'' and in 1908 exhibited at the Royal Academy. She was a part of RMS's council throughout 1925-1935. Joshua Bayes
Joshua Bayes (1671–1746) was an English nonconformist minister. Life Bayes was the son of Joshua Bayes, whose brother was Rev. Samuel Bayes. Samuel was ejected by the Act of Uniformity of 1662 from a living in Derbyshire, afterwards residing in Manchester until his death. Believed to be born in 1671, he received his entire secular education in the grammar school of his native town, Manchester. Being dedicated from his birth to the nonconformist ministry, he was placed under the tuition of Richard Frankland, of Attercliffe in Yorkshire, on 15 Nov. 1686. On the conclusion of his course he proceeded to London, and was admitted for "examination" by a number of the elder ministers "according to the practice of the times". Nora Bayes
Nora Bayes (born Rachel Eleonora "Dora" Goldberg; October 3, 1880March 19, 1928) was an American singer and vaudeville performer who was popular internationally between the 1900s and 1920s. She is credited with co-writing the song " Shine On, Harvest Moon" and performed many successful songs during the First World War, including " Over There". She was also noted for her independent views and unconventional private life, becoming an early media celebrity. She made over 160 recordings. Paul Bayes (born 1953) is an English Anglican retired bishop. He served as Bishop of Hertford, a suffragan bishop in the Church of England's Diocese of St Albans from 2010 to 2014, and then as Bishop of Liverpool from 2014 to 2022. Thomas Bayes ( , ; 7 April 1761) was an English statistician, philosopher and Presbyterian minister who is known for formulating a specific case of the theorem that bears his name: Bayes' theorem. Bayes never published what would become his most famous accomplishment; his notes were edited and published posthumously by Richard Price. Biography Thomas Bayes was the son of London Presbyterian minister Joshua Bayes, and was possibly born in Hertfordshire. Walter John Bayes (31 May 1869 – 21 January 1956) was an English painter and illustrator who was a founder member of both the Camden Town Group and the London Group and also a renowned art teacher and critic. Bayesian probability ( or ) is an interpretation of the concept of probability, in which, instead of frequency or propensity of some phenomenon, probability is interpreted as reasonable expectation representing a state of knowledge or as quantification of a personal belief. Bayes' Theorem
Bayes' theorem (alternatively Bayes' law or Bayes' rule, after Thomas Bayes) gives a mathematical rule for inverting Conditional probability, conditional probabilities, allowing one to find the probability of a cause given its effect. For example, if the risk of developing health problems is known to increase with age, Bayes' theorem allows the risk to someone of a known age to be assessed more accurately by conditioning it relative to their age, rather than assuming that the person is typical of the population as a whole. Based on Bayes' law, both the prevalence of a disease in a given population and the error rate of an infectious disease test must be taken into account to evaluate the meaning of a positive test result and avoid the ''base-rate fallacy''.
