Batuz
Batuz (born May 27, 1933) is an artist, philosopher and cultural activist. He is the founder of the Société Imaginaire, an undertaking that strives for cultural dialogue. Batuz' ideas are carried out through the support of his foundations – Batuz Foundation USA and Batuz Foundation Uruguay, as well as Helmets for Peace e.V. Philosophy As an artist Batuz developed over the last decades with great consistency works in which a line becomes a mental barrier and acquires a vital function within the picture. Batuz works with many different media, what remains the same is his vision of a co-existing world that acts as a possible community in which everyone can communicate with everyone else; the intellectuals amongst themselves but also with all others. High and low has no meaning. What's important is to create a peaceful world. The works of art are agents in this world. Helmets For Peace
Helmets for Peace is a work of art by Batuz, consisting of military helmets and attached to them shields made of dyed paper pulp, straw and various other materials. The work of art aims to raise awareness among people about the important role of the peacekeeping missions of the United Nations. General Hans-Peter von Kirchbach (former General Inspector of the Bundeswehr) inspired Batuz to create a permanent installation from the helmets and the attached to them shields, which should turn into a symbol of peace to be followed by many armies around the world. In the summer of 2007 Batuz finished assembling the first installation of the work which was called "Helmets for Peace". It was exhibited in an abandoned hall in Chemnitz. The work included 167 helmets and was 5,50 meter high and 11,30 meter wide. Inge Morath
Ingeborg Hermine Morath (; 27 May 1923 – 30 January 2002) was an Austrian photographer. In 1953, she joined the Magnum Photos Agency, founded by top photographers in Paris, and became a full photographer with the agency in 1955. Morath was the third wife of playwright Arthur Miller; their daughter is screenwriter/director Rebecca Miller. Biography Early years (1923–1945) Morath was born in Graz, Austria, to Mathilde (Wiesler) and Edgar Morath, scientists whose work took them to different laboratories and universities in Europe during her childhood. Her parents had converted from Catholicism to Protestantism. First educated in French-speaking schools, Morath relocated in the 1930s with her family to Darmstadt, a German intellectual center, and then to Berlin, where Morath's father directed a laboratory specializing in wood chemistry.
