The Ballarat Football Netball Club, nicknamed the Swans, is an Australian rules football and netball club. The football squad currently competes in the Ballarat Football League in the Ballarat region of Victoria, Australia. Ballarat has won more senior football premierships in the Ballarat Football Netball League than any other competing club, with a total of 19 senior football premierships. The club was established on 20 May 1860, making it the 3rd oldest continually operating football club in Australia, behind Melbourne (May 1859) and Geelong (July 1859). The Ballarat Football League (BFL) is an Australian rules football competition that operates in the Ballarat region of Victoria (state), Victoria. The competition formed in 1893 as the Ballarat Football Association and was renamed Ballarat Football League in 1908 and was briefly known as the Ballarat-Wimmera Football League between 1934 and 1936. Nathan Brown (Australian Footballer, Born 1988)
Nathan J. Brown (born 17 December 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club and the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Brown is a former student of St Patrick's College, Ballarat. He was part of their 1st XVIII that won the coveted Herald Sun Shield in 2005. Tall and mobile, Brown is a former basketballer who converted to football and was earmarked for centre halfback, following some well acclaimed performances for Vic Country in the 2006 Under 18 National Championships. Don Discher
Don Discher (born 17 April 1954) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Discher was a ruckman, who came down to St Kilda from Ballarat. He played his first league game in the opening round of the 1978 VFL season, against Fitzroy, but didn't feature again for the rest of the year. He missed four games through suspension in 1979, two each for striking Collingwood's Peter Moore and Terry Wight. Despite this he was still able to appear in 11 games for St Kilda in 1979. The Redan Football Netball Club (nicknamed the ''Lions'') is an Australian rules football and netball club located in the city of Ballarat, Victoria. The football team currently competes in the Ballarat Football League. History The first Redan game was reported in The Ballarat Star Saturday September 2, 1871 against the Ballarat Football Club. The Redan team was made up from miners from the Band of Hope mine and their average weight was 14 Stone (90 kg). The Star reported that the Redan team were everywhere, kicking and tripping regardless of the consequences. Redan has a history of 59 Premierships including 11 Senior Football Premierships and was named the Victorian Country Football League Most Disciplined Club in 2004 & 2005. Lake Wendouree () is an artificial lake, artificially created and maintained shallow urban lake located adjacent to the Lake Wendouree, Victoria, suburb of the same name in the city of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Alfredton is a suburb of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia, west of the CBD. The population at the was 11,822 making it the most populated in the Ballarat urban area. Alfredton is located west of Lake Wendouree along Sturt Street. Sophie Van De Heuvel (born 10 December 2000) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Essendon Football Club#AFL Women's team, Essendon Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW).
