Jerry Buddy Long Jr. (born March 10, 1969), better known by his stage name Kokane, is an American rapper and singer best known for his distinctive vocal style and numerous guest appearances, such as on Snoop Dogg's ''Tha Last Meal''. Early life Long Jr. was born on March 10, 1969, in the Bronx, New York City, the son of Motown composer Jerry B. Long Sr. and singer Debra Long. His family soon relocated to Pomona, California, where he would grow up surrounded by his father's work and later joined the gang 357 Gangster Crips. G-funk
G-funk, short for gangsta funk, (or funk rap) is a sub-genre of gangsta rap that emerged from the West Coast scene in the early 1990s. The genre is heavily influenced by the synthesizer-heavy 1970s funk sound of Parliament-Funkadelic (aka P-Funk), often incorporated through samples or re-recordings. It is represented by commercially successful albums such as Dr. Dre's '' The Chronic'' (1992), Snoop Dogg's '' Doggystyle'' (1993), and 2Pac's '' All Eyez on Me'' (1996). SMC Recordings
SMC Recordings is an independent hip hop record label established in 2005 in Del Valle, Texas, by Charles Vasquez, Micheal Luna, and Saroj Thapa. SMC primarily signs and distributes established hip hop artists. SMC grew out of a vision that Saroj Thapa had in early 2000s to launch a new kind of record label, one based in his hometown, that would be about hip hop music. Saroj crossed paths with Micheal Luna and Charles Vasquez, and SMC came one step closer to being realized. David Brown Williams (born 1983), better known by his stage name Roscoe, is an American rapper. He released his debut album, '' Young Roscoe Philaphornia'', in 2003, with the album debuting at #148 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Above the Law was an American hip hop group from Pomona, California, founded in 1989 by Cold 187um, Lay Law, KMG the Illustrator, Go Mack, and DJ Total K-Oss. Biography In 1989, the group signed with Eazy-E's Ruthless Records. While there, the group became an additional influence in pioneering with N.W.A. Their first album on Ruthless, 1990's ''Livin' Like Hustlers'', featured a guest appearance from N.W.A and production from Dr. Dre. Lawrence Carl Demetrious White, (born December 16, 1979) better known by his stage name 40 Glocc, is an American rapper. Early life White was born in Greenville, Texas. At the age of 10, he moved with his mother to various locations in California, until finally settling in the Inland Empire city of Colton. He began rapping with friends and by 1997, his group, the "Zoo Crew", were recording and promoting their first album, ''Migrate, Adapt or Die'', produced by Tony G. and Julio G. Career White negotiated a deal with Empire Musicwerks, with distribution by BMG.
