The 3rd BET Awards took place at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California on June 24, 2003. The awards recognized Americans in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year. Comedian Mo'Nique hosted the event for the first time. The Dolby Theatre (formerly known as the Kodak Theatre) is a live-performance auditorium in the Ovation Hollywood shopping mall and entertainment complex, on Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue (Los Angeles), Highland Avenue, in the Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, United States. "Magic Stick" is a song by American rapper Lil' Kim featuring fellow American rapper 50 Cent, released on April 8, 2003 as the second single from her third studio album '' La Bella Mafia'' (2003). The song was produced by Carlos "Fantom of the Beat" Evans. Despite not having a physical release or music video, the song performed very well on the charts, peaking at number 2 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Background The song samples "It Be's That Way Sometimes" by Joe Simon. The song was originally intended for 50 Cent's album ''Get Rich or Die Tryin''' and featured rapper Trina. "The Jump Off" is a song by American rapper Lil' Kim featuring fellow American rappers Mr. Cheeks and Timbaland, who produced the track. It was released by Atlantic Records on February 10, 2003 as the lead single from her third studio album ''La Bella Mafia'' (2003). Background "The Jump Off" means something that gets the party going and is also slang for "the best". The chorus of the song interpolates the Lost Boyz's 1995 song "Jeeps, Lex Coups, Bimaz & Benz". Kim decided to incorporate the song for the hook because it was one of her favorite songs during that time and felt it fit the storyline, despite producer Timbaland saying she should do something else.
