Autovía A-44
The Autovía A-44 is a highway in Andalucia, Spain. It is also known as the Autovía de Granada / Sierra Nevada. The entirety of the route also forms the entirety of European route E 902, a B class road in the International E-road network. A-44 / E 902 connects the coastal municipality of Motril to the inland town of Bailén. It starts at La Gorgoracha from a section of the Autovía A-7 which starts at Motril at the junction of the N-340. From La Gorgoracha it runs parallel to the old N-323, but to the east of Velez de Benaudalla heading Rules dam (the old, and still existing section of the N-323 between Motril and Izbor, heads up the gorge of the Rio Guadalfeo into the Valle de Lecrin with Las Alpujarras to the east). Bailén
Bailén (archaically known as Baylen in English) is a town in the province of Jaén, Spain. History Bailén is probably the ancient Baecula, where the Romans, under Scipio the elder, signally defeated the Carthaginians in 209 and 206 B.C. In its neighbourhood, also, in 1212, was fought the great Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, in which, according to the ancient chroniclers, the Castilians under Alphonso VIII, slew 200,000 Almohads, and themselves only lost 25 men. Although this estimate is absurd, the victory of the Christians was complete. There is a convent that dates from 729. Autovía A-92
The Autovía A-92 is a highway in Andalusia, Spain. It is a major east–west route running south of the Sierra Nevada and is known as the Carretera Sevilla a Granada and Autovía de Andalucía. It starts in Seville heading parallel to the Rio Guadaira to Antequera, where it is crossed by the Autovía A-45 from Málaga to Córdoba. It then crosses the Sierra Gorda to Loja and Vega de Granada before reaching Granada. Here the road is crossed by the Autovía A-44 from the coast and Motril to Jaén. The A-92 then passes over the Puerto de la Mora de Huétor (1,390 m) to Guadix. At Guadix the road branches in two; the south passing La Calahorra Castle and along the Rio Nacimiento to Tabernas and Almería. N-340 (Carretera)
The N-340 is a major highway in Spain. It is over 1,000 km long starting south of Barcelona and running predominantly along the coast to Chiclana de la Frontera and the N-IV to Cádiz. In many places the road has now been by-passed by the Autovía A-7 and Autopista AP-7. It follows the former Roman road ''Via Augusta'', that was one of the main roads of Hispania. The N-340 route passes the Arc de Berà, a Roman arch. The road starts at the Passeig de Josep Carner in Barcelona.
