Coins Of The Australian Dollar
Coins of the Australian dollar were introduced on 14 February 1966, although they did not at that time include the one-dollar or two-dollar coins. The dollar was equivalent in value to 10 shillings (half a pound) in the former currency. Regular coinage Produced by the Royal Australian Mint, all current coins have featured four versions of the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II, former Queen of Australia, on the obverse. The first effigy was designed by Arnold Machin, the second effigy by Raphael Maklouf, the third effigy by Ian Rank-Broadley and the fourth effigy by artist Jody Clark. They have all been matched with designs by the Australian-born artist Stuart Devlin on the reverse. 2018 Invictus Games
The 2018 Invictus Games was an adaptive mulit-sport event for wounded, injured and ill veteran and active defence personnel, held in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The fourth Invictus Games, an event founded in 2014 by Prince Harry, included 13 sports (11 medal sports). It was the first Invictus Games held in the southern hemisphere. Harold Thomas (artist)
Harold Joseph Thomas (born 1947), also known as Bundoo, is an Aboriginal Australian artist and former activist, known for designing and copyrighting the Australian Aboriginal Flag. He claims to have designed the flag in 1971 as a symbol of the Aboriginal land rights movement, and in 1995 it was made an official "Flag of Australia". He later asserted copyright over his design, eventually transferring that copyright to the Commonwealth of Australia and making it freely available for public use in January 2022. Early life and education Harold Joseph Thomas (Bundoo) was born in 1947 to a Wombai father and Luritja mother in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. He remembers drawing and painting on pieces of paper from an early age. The Wiggles
The Wiggles are an Australian children's music group formed in Sydney in 1991. The group are currently composed of Anthony Field, Lachlan Gillespie, Simon Pryce and Tsehay Hawkins, as well as supporting members Evie Ferris, John Pearce, Caterina Mete and Lucia Field. The Wiggles were founded in 1991 by Field, Murray Cook, Jeff Fatt, Greg Page and Phillip Wilcher. Wilcher left the group after their first album. Page retired in 2006 due to ill health and was replaced by understudy Sam Moran, but returned in 2012, replacing Moran.
