Ateizm Derneği
Ateizm Derneği (English: ''Association of Atheism'') is a Turkish non-profit organisation that describes itself as a freethinker association founded on 16 April 2014 for the promotion and advocacy of the concept of atheism, and serves to support irreligious people and freethinkers in Turkey who are discriminated against based on their views. Ateizm Derneği is headquartered in Kadıköy, Istanbul. As of 2019, its president is Selin Özkohen. History At the time of the foundation, the organisation was headed by a board consisting of eleven members, presided by Tolga İnci. It is the first legally recognised Turkish atheist organisation, and simultaneously one of the first in the Muslim-majority world. Kadıköy
Kadıköy (), known in classical antiquity and during the Roman and Byzantine eras as Chalcedon ( gr, Χαλκηδών), is a large, populous, and cosmopolitan district in the Asian side of Istanbul, Turkey, on the northern shore of the Sea of Marmara. It partially faces the historic city centre of Fatih on the European side of the Bosporus. One of the expensive neighborhood in Istanbul. Kadıköy is also the name of the most prominent neighbourhood of the district, a residential and commercial area that, with its numerous bars, cinemas and bookshops, is the liberal cultural centre of the Anatolian side of Istanbul. The Humanistisch Verbond (HV, sometimes translated as ''Humanistic Association Netherlands'', ''Dutch Humanist Association'' or ''Dutch Humanist League'') is a Dutch association based on secular humanist principles. Secularism In Turkey
Secularism in Turkey defines the relationship between religion and state in the country of Turkey. Secularism or Laicism (or '' laïcité'') was first introduced with the 1928 amendment of the Constitution of 1924, which removed the provision declaring that the "Religion of the State is Islam", and with the later reforms of Turkey's first president Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, which set the administrative and political requirements to create a modern, democratic, secular state, aligned with Kemalism. Such reforms have been historically controversial in a society that is mainly Sunni Hanafi. Nine years after its introduction, ''laïcité'' was explicitly stated in the second article of the then Turkish constitution on February 5, 1937. HUMAN (earlier Humanistische Omroep and HOS: English: ''Humanist Broadcaster'') is a special broadcaster on the Netherlands Public Broadcasting system, which is allowed to broadcast on radio and television because of their spiritual background. It was one of the "2.42 broadcasters" (named after the Article 2.42 of the ''Mediawet'', the Dutch media law, which allowed faith-based broadcasters to get airtime on radio and TV without having to have any members). However, HUMAN has been attempting to obtain a regular public broadcasting license, and attained the minimum number of members to be eligible to become an aspirant broadcaster as of 2014.
