Ashtar Command (band)
Ashtar Command is the name of an indie rock band composed of Chris Holmes (not to be confused with the former guitar player for the metal band W.A.S.P.) and Brian Liesegang. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or " guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's large student population. Independent labels such as Flying Nun began to promote the scene across New Zealand, inspiring key college rock bands in the United States such as Pavement, Pixies and R.E.M. "Into Dust" is a song by American duo Mazzy Star that appears as the ninth track on their second album '' So Tonight That I Might See''. The song's arrangement is sparse and features only acoustic guitar and cello as accompaniment to the vocals. Although never released as an official single, the song has charted on two occasions on the UK Singles Chart. Fifteen years after the release of the album, the song charted at #71 in August 2009 following its appearance on a commercial for Virgin Media. "Temporary Secretary" is a song by Paul McCartney, released as the third single from his album ''McCartney II'' in September 1980. Dominated by a dissonant sequenced synthesiser line, ''NME'' later described the song as "wonky electropop that didn't sound so much ahead of its time as out of it altogether." While initially met with highly negative critical reception, it has since become a cult classic and favorite among McCartney fans.
