Ashot Navasardyan
Ashot Tsolaki Navasardyan (; March 28, 1950 – November 3, 1997) was an Armenian politician and military commander who founded the Republican Party of Armenia. Navasardyan was born in Yerevan and graduated from the Faculty of Law of Yerevan State University. From 1968 to 1990, he was a member of the underground National Unity Party and its successor, the Union for National Self-Determination, which sought to achieve Armenia's secession from the Soviet Union. He was imprisoned several times by the Soviet authorities for his dissident activities, serving a total of 12 years in prisons. Navasardyan was an advocate of the ideas of the Armenian military leader and nationalist thinker Garegin Nzhdeh. With the rise of the Karabakh movement and the Armenian independence movement, he and other members of the Union for National Self-Determination founded the Army of Independence, an armed group that engaged in violent clashes with Soviet authorities in Armenia and with Azerbaijani forces ... 1990 Armenian Supreme Soviet Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on 20 May 1990,Dieter Nohlen, Florian Grotz & Christof Hartmann (2001) ''Elections in Asia: A data handbook, Volume I'', p329 although further rounds were held on 3 June and 15 July due to low turnouts invalidating earlier results. By 21 July, 64 seats were still unfilled, with 16 still unfilled in February the following year. Yerablur
Yerablur ( hy, Եռաբլուր, translation=based on three hills) or Yerablur Military Pantheon is a military cemetery located on a hilltop in the outskirts of Yerevan, Armenia. Since 1988, Yerablur has become the burial place of Armenian soldiers who died during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. History On 26 May 1992, the status of the cemetery was approved by the order of the Government of Armenia. Layout It is located in the western part of Yerevan, on the Yerablur hill, to the right of the Yerevan— Etchmiadzin highway. The height of the hill is 951 m, and the area of the pantheon is 19.22 ha. On the left side of the entrance to Yerablur is the chapel, in front of which is the Museum of the Fallen Freedom Fighters, next to it is the monument commemorating the 39 soldiers of the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia, further is the monument to the missing Freedom Fighters.
