The ''arrano beltza'' (Basque language, Basque, 'black eagle'; it is also the Basque name of the golden eagle, ''Aquila chrysaetos'') is an ancient Basque people, Basque and Navarre symbol depicting a black Eagle (heraldry), heraldic eagle upon a yellow background. Today, it is mostly used by Basque nationalism, Basque nationalists as a symbol of sovereignty and independence.
