Anwar Yassin
Anwar Yassin (Arabic: أنور ياسين) is a former Lebanese detainee in Israeli prisons. He was both a member of the Popular Guard, the armed wing of the Lebanese Communist Party (LCP), and the broader Lebanese National Resistance Front (LNRF; aka ''Jammoul'') guerrilla alliance, since his early youth in the mid-1980s. He was detained by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) during an operation in southern Lebanon, near the Shebaa Farms, in September 1987, when he was only 17 years old. He was released in an exchange operation between the Lebanese resistance led by Hizbollah and the IDF in January 2005 after spending 18 years in detention. Anwar Yassin ran for parliamentary elections representing the LCP in May 2005 and got 18,244 votes in Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon,http://www.lebanonwire.com/prominent/elections2005/full_results.asp but lost to his opponents from the Hizbollah and Amal parties. Souha Bechara
Souha Bechara (; born 15 June 1967) is a Lebanese former prisoner at the Khiam detention center. In 1988, she unsuccessfully attempted to assassinate Antoine Lahad, the then-leader of the Israel-backed South Lebanon Army (SLA); she was subsequently arrested and held at the SLA's notorious prison facility in Khiam for ten years. Early life Bechara was born in Deir Mimas, Lebanon, to an Eastern Orthodox Christian family. Her father, Fawaz, was a member of the Lebanese Communist Party, which Bechara herself also joined secretly in 1982. George Hawi
George Hawi ( ar, جورج حاوي; born 5 November 1938 – 21 June 2005) was a Lebanese politician and former secretary general of the Lebanese Communist Party (LCP). An outspoken critic of Syrian interference in Lebanese affairs, he was killed in 2005 by a bomb placed under the passenger seat of his car. Lebanese people accused the Syrian government of assassinating him. He was the stepfather of the Lebanese Armenian politician Rafi Madayan, who also has a stepson, Charbel Khalifeh Hachem. Bint Jbeil () is the second largest town in the Nabatiye Governorate in Southern Lebanon. The town has an estimated population of 30,000. Its exact population is unknown, because Lebanon has not conducted a population census since 1932. History According to E. H.
