Antonio Ballatore is a television personality and designer who was the winner of the fourth season of the reality show ''HGTV Design Star''. ''HGTV Star'', named ''HGTV Design Star'' for the first seven seasons, is an American reality competition show that premiered on July 23, 2006, on the cable television network HGTV. Clive Pearse served as host for Seasons 1-4, then judge Vern Yip served as host for Season 5, replacing Clive Pearse. HGTV'D host Tanika Ray served as host for Season 6 and Design Star Season 1 winner David Bromstad join the show as a mentor. Bromstad later return not only as mentor but as host, replacing Tanika Ray, for the remainder of the show including Design Star:All Stars, even though Tanika Ray announce as host for Season 7. The fourth season of ''HGTV Design Star'' premiered on July 19, 2009. The series was filmed in Los Angeles, California for the first time. Vern Yip returned as a judge, and was joined by newcomers Genevieve Gorder and Candice Olson. Clive Pearse returned as host, and this was his final season hosting the show. A major change this season was that the judges decided the winner, instead of having a public vote. Vern Yip
Vern Yip (born June 27, 1968, in Hong Kong) is an American interior designer based in Atlanta, Georgia. He periodically appeared on TLC's ''Trading Spaces'' through its fourth season, and was known for frequently including silk, candles and flowers in the rooms he designed. He is one of the panel of judges on HGTV's '' Design Star''. Yip hosted four seasons of HGTV's show '' Deserving Design''. Yip hosted an HGTV special called Urban Oasis, in which he designed a Chicago loft in the Trump International Hotel. Genevieve Gorder (born July 26, 1974) is an American television host and interior designer. She hosted Bravo's ''Best Room Wins''. Previously, she hosted '' Stay Here'' on Netflix, ''Genevieve's Renovation'', "White House Christmas," and ''Dear Genevieve'' on HGTV and judged HGTV's Design Star. Early life Gorder is the oldest of three children and the only daughter. Her mother is Diana Drake, and her father is Jon Gorder. She attended Minneapolis South High School, where she played soccer and the violin. From 1992 to 1994, Gorder attended Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, majoring in international affairs, but decided to change her career path after taking a graphic design course. In 1994, she obtained an internship at MTV in New York City. After completing the internship, MTV offered Gorder a permanent job, which she accepted. Candice Olson (born October 27, 1964) is a Canadian designer. She was the host of the Toronto-based home-makeover shows ''Divine Design'' and '' Candice Tells All'', which aired on the W Network in Canada and on HGTV in the United States. Early life Olson attended the University of Calgary and played for the Canadian National Women's Volleyball Team at the same time. She then transferred and graduated from the School of Interior Design at Ryerson University in Toronto. Olson honed her skills for several years in several of Canada's top interior design firms.
