Anthony Brandt
Anthony K. Brandt (born 1961) is an American composer, academic, and writer. He is Professor of Composition and Theory at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music and the co-author with neuroscientist David Eagleman of the 2017 book ''The Runaway Species: How Human Creativity Remakes the World''. As a composer, his works include three chamber operas, an oratorio, and orchestral, chamber, and vocal music. Life and career Brandt was born and raised in New York City. His father, Nathan, was a history writer and an editor for ''American Heritage (magazine), American Heritage'' and ''Publishers Weekly''. His mother, Yanna, was a television producer. His maternal grandfather, Boris Kroyt was a violinist (and later violist) who was a member of the Budapest String Quartet. Brackets
A bracket is either of two tall fore- or back-facing punctuation marks commonly used to isolate a segment of text or data from its surroundings. Typically deployed in symmetric pairs, an individual bracket may be identified as a 'left' or 'right' bracket or, alternatively, an "opening bracket" or "closing bracket", respectively, depending on the directionality of the context. Specific forms of the mark include parentheses (also called "rounded brackets"), square brackets, curly brackets (also called 'braces'), and angle brackets (also called 'chevrons'), as well as various less common pairs of symbols. As well as signifying the overall class of punctuation, the word "bracket" is commonly used to refer to a specific form of bracket, which varies from region to region.
