Annette (film)
''Annette'' is a 2021 musical romantic drama film directed by Leos Carax, his first English-language film. The film's story and music were written by Ron Mael and Russell Mael of Sparks, with lyrics co-written by Carax. The film, which has been described as a rock opera, follows a stand-up comedian (Adam Driver) and his opera singer wife (Marion Cotillard), and how their lives are changed when they have their first child. Simon Helberg and Devyn McDowell also appear. An international co-production between France, Germany, Belgium, the United States, Japan, Mexico and Switzerland, ''Annette'' was premiered on 6 July 2021 as the opening film at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, where Carax received the Best Director award. Leos Carax
Alex Christophe Dupont (born 22 November 1960), best known as Leos Carax (), is a French film director, critic and writer. Carax is noted for his poetic style and his tortured depictions of love. His first major work was '' Boy Meets Girl'' (1984), and his notable works include '' Les Amants du Pont-Neuf'' (1991), '' Holy Motors'' (2012) and '' Annette'' (2021). Claron McFadden
Claron McFadden (born 1961) is an American soprano. McFadden studied voice at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, finishing her degree in 1984. She gained international fame when making her Glyndebourne Festival Opera debut in the title role of the opera ''Lulu'', conducted by Sir Andrew Davis.
