Andries Hoogerwerf
Andries Hoogerwerf (29 August 1906 – 5 February 1977) was a Dutch track and field athlete, naturalist, ornithologist and conservationist, who spent much of his working life in the Dutch East Indies and Dutch New Guinea. Hoogerwerf's athletics career lasted from the early 1920s until 1930, during which period he competed in middle-distance running events. In 1923 Hoogerwerf established his first Dutch national record, completing the 800 m in 1:56.6. In the 1000 m event he improved the Dutch record even three times, starting with 2:40.2 in 1929 and ending in 2:35.2 in 1930. In 1930 he finally also improved the Dutch 1500 m record from 4:10.6 into 4:08.6. Hoogerwerf competed in the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam as a member of the Dutch 4 × 400 m relay team. Panthera Tigris Sondaica 01
''Panthera'' is a genus within the family Felidae that was named and described by Lorenz Oken in 1816 who placed all the spotted cats in this group. Reginald Innes Pocock revised the classification of this genus in 1916 as comprising the tiger (''P. tigris''), lion (''P. leo''), jaguar (''P. onca''), and leopard (''P. pardus'') on the basis of common cranial features. Results of genetic analysis indicate that the snow leopard (formerly ''Uncia uncia'') also belongs to the genus ''Panthera'' (''P. uncia''), a classification that was accepted by IUCN Red List assessors in 2008. The tiger, lion, jaguar and leopard are the only cat species with anatomical structures that enable them to roar; the snow leopard cannot. The primary reason for this was formerly assumed to be the incomplete ossification of the hyoid bone. Ujung Kulon National Park
Ujung Kulon National Park is at the westernmost tip of Java, in Banten province of Indonesia. It includes the volcanic island group of Krakatoa in Lampung province, and other islands including Panaitan, as well as smaller offshore islets such as Handeuleum and Peucang in the Sunda Strait. Hoogerwerf's Pheasant
Hoogerwerf's pheasant (''Lophura inornata hoogerwerfi''), also known as the Aceh pheasant or Sumatran pheasant is a medium-sized, up to long, bird of the family Phasianidae. The name commemorates the Dutch ornithologist and taxidermist Andries Hoogerwerf. Description The male is a crestless bluish-black pheasant with bare red facial skin, short tail and grey legs. The female is a rufous brown bird with a dark bluish grey legs and short dark tail. Its appearance resembles, and it is usually considered as a subspecies of the Salvadori's pheasant. The female is different from the latter for having darker brown, lack of buff mottling and plainer plumage. Cardiac arrest is when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. It is a medical emergency that, without immediate medical intervention, will result in sudden cardiac death within minutes.
