Ander Gil
Ander Gil García (born 9 February 1974) is a Spanish teacher and politician serving as the 62nd and current president of the Senate of Spain since 2021. Gil has been Senator for Burgos since 2011 and Spokesperson of the Socialist Group in the Senate from 2017 to 2021. Previously, Gil served as a local councillor for Valle de Mena from 1995 to 2011. Biography Gil was born in Barakaldo, Biscay. He graduated as an elementary school teacher in the University of Burgos and he started his political career at the age of 21, when he was elected local councillor in Valle de Mena, Burgos province. The president of the Senate is the presiding officer of the Spanish Senate, the upper house of Spain's Cortes Generales. It is the fourth authority of the country after the Monarch (Head of State), the Prime Minister (Head of Government) and the President of the Congress of Deputies (Speaker of the Lower House). 2018 Vote Of No Confidence In The Government Of Mariano Rajoy
A motion of no confidence in the Spanish government of Mariano Rajoy was debated and voted in the Congress of Deputies between 31 May and 1 June 2018. It was brought by Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) leader Pedro Sánchez after the governing People's Party (PP) was found to have profited from the illegal kickbacks-for-contracts scheme of the Gürtel case in a court ruling made public the previous day. The People's Party ( es, Partido Popular ; known mostly by its acronym, PP ) is a conservative and Christian-democratic political party in Spain. The People's Party was a 1989 re-foundation of People's Alliance (AP), a party led by former minister of the dictatorship Manuel Fraga and founded back in 1976 as alliance of post-Francoist proto-parties. Mariano Rajoy Brey (; born 27 March 1955) is a Spanish politician who served as Prime Minister of Spain from 2011 to 2018, when a vote of no confidence ousted his government. On 5 June 2018, he announced his resignation as People's Party leader. He became Leader of the People's Party in 2004 and Prime Minister in 2011 following the People's Party landslide victory in that year's general election becoming the sixth President of the Spanish Government.
