Amerigo Thodé
Amerigo C.M. Thodé (born 27 July 1950) is a Curaçaoan politician of the Movement for the Future of Curaçao (MFK). He served as President of the Estates of Curaçao between November and December 2012 and once again from 24 March 2017 and 11 May 2017. Career In the 2000s Thodé served as secretary-general of the Party Workers' Liberation Front 30 May (FOL). He later switched to Movement for the Future of Curaçao. At the first meeting of the Estates of Curaçao on 10 October 2010 Thodé was elected Vice President. On 2 November 2012 Thodé was elected President of the Estates. After a new government coalition did not include Thodé's MFK he resigned as President of the Estates on 6 December 2012. In January 2016 Thodé was convicted of leaking confidential information from a meeting from the College of Financial Oversight. The Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba ( nl, Gemeenschappelijk Hof van Justitie van Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten en van Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba) serves the three Caribbean countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands ( Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten) and the three Caribbean special municipalities of the Netherlands ( Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba). 2016 Curaçao General Election
General elections were held in Curaçao on 5 October 2016, having been postponed from 30 September due to Hurricane Matthew. A total of thirteen parties participated. Electoral system The 21 members of the Estates are elected by proportional representation. Parties that won seats in the previous elections are allowed to participate, whilst primary elections are held to determine which other parties can run, with parties required to receive the equivalent of 1% of the vote at the previous elections in order to participate. The Netherlands Antillean guilder ( nl, gulden) is the currency of Curaçao and Sint Maarten, which until 2010 formed the Netherlands Antilles along with Bonaire, Saba, and Sint Eustatius. Gilmar Simon Pisas (born 28 February 1971) is a Curaçaoan politician and current Prime Minister of Curaçao, serving since 14 June 2021. He previously served as Prime Minister between 24 March 2017 and 29 May 2017, and as a member of the Parliament of Curaçao until June 2021. Early life and career Pisas was born on 28 October 1971.
