Amejo
is a Japanese derogatory term for young Okinawan women who date male members of the United States Forces Japan stationed in Okinawa Prefecture. The other component of the term (女 ''jo'') means "female" or "girl". There are scholars who note that ''amejo'' means someone who has an affinity for America and that the derogatory connotation was a result of a misunderstanding of the Okinawan language. In her book ''Asian Mystique'', author Sheridan Prasso explained the ''amejo'' in terms of the fetishizing that goes on between non-Asian males and Asian females: Although ''Amejo'' is predominantly used for Okinawan women in relationships with white men, those who date primarily black American men are also included under the term, but are usually referred to as or "black(loving) girl" instead. United States Forces Japan
is a subordinate unified command of the United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM). It was activated at Fuchū Air Station in Tokyo, Japan, on 1 July 1957 to replace the Far East Command. Yellow Cab (stereotype)
is a disparaging term for Japanese women who travel overseas or to foreign enclaves in Japan seeking to meet foreign men. The term combines the use of "yellow", a color/racial classification category for people of East Asian origin, and the image of a yellow cab which can be "ridden at any time". The term was spread to Japan by Shōko Ieda's 1991 book ''Yellow Cab'', and was quickly appropriated by the Japanese media as a way of sensationalizing and censuring the women's behaviour. Later, ''Yellow Cab'' was exposed as a fraud, and Japanese media reports were criticized. Sarong Party Girl
A sarong party girl (also known as an SPG) is a woman in Singapore and (to a lesser extent) Peninsular Malaysia of Chinese ethnicity who exclusively dates or socializes with men of European origin. Etymology The term "Sarong party girl" has its fairly innocuous roots in the late 1940s to early 1950s when Singapore was still ruled by the British Empire. As a general practice, the British forces personnel socialised very much among themselves, according to their military ranks and status (i.e. officers as opposed to enlisted men). However, there were some instances when specific local Singaporean "guests" were invited to social functions hosted by the British. Pinkerton Syndrome is a term for the perceived tendency of some Asians to regard Whites as superior or more desirable, especially for marriage or relationships. Etymology Pinkerton Syndrome is derived from the 1904 opera ''Madama Butterfly'' by Giacomo Puccini, based on the 1898 short story '' Madame Butterfly'' by John Luther Long.
