Amdrup Land
Amdrup Land is a land area in the Crown Prince Christian Land peninsula, King Frederick VIII Land, northeastern Greenland. Administratively it belongs to the NE Greenland National Park area. Numerous fossils of the Carboniferous and Palaeozoic periods have been found in Amdrup Land, including fossil algae and fishes. Geography Amdrup Land is largely unglaciated. It is bound in the north by the large Flade Isblink ice cap, in the east by Antarctic Bay of the Greenland Sea and in the south by the Ingolf Fjord, on the other side of which rises Holm Land. The Henrik Krøyer Holme island group lies off its southeastern point. Antarctic Bay (Greenland)
Antarctic Bay ( da, Antarctic Bugt) is a bay in the Greenland Sea coast of the Crown Prince Christian Land peninsula, King Frederick VIII Land, Northeastern Greenland. Lauge Koch
Lauge Koch (5 July 1892 – 5 June 1964) was a Danish geologist and Arctic explorer. Biography Lauge Koch was born in 1892 to Karl and Elisabeth Koch. His development as a scientist was greatly influenced by his father's second cousin Johan Peter Koch - a polar explorer, a member of several Greenland expeditions, including Ludvig Mylius-Erichsen's and Alfred Wegener's (in the latter's expedition (1912-1913) to cross Greenland, he led a sledging party). Henrik Krøyer Holme
Henrik Krøyer Holme is a small group of uninhabited islands of Greenland within Northeast Greenland National Park. The area was formerly part of Avannaa, originally Nordgrønland ("North Greenland"), a former county of Greenland until 31 December 2008. The Henrik Krøyer Holme group is an Important Bird Area where the ivory gull breeds. Geography This cluster of small islands is located in the Wandel Sea off the coast of Amdrup Land. Mørkefjord Expedition
Mørkefjord, meaning in Danish "The dark fjord," is a fjord in King Frederick VIII Land, northeastern Greenland. History Mørkefjord was named by the 1906-1908 Denmark expedition, which established a second weather station at Mørkefjord, in order to compare meteorological observations data with those taken at Danmarkshavn . It had also been known as ''Vigfusdalfjord''. The 1938–1939 Mørkefjord expedition was named after it. They built their base hut and repaired their ship "Gamma" at a place by the fjord's shores. Georg Carl Amdrup
Vice Admiral Sir Georg Carl Amdrup (Copenhagen, Denmark, November 19, 1866 – Copenhagen, January 15, 1947), RN was a Danish naval officer, Vice Admiral and Greenland researcher. Career In 1884, Amdrup, of the Royal Danish Navy, was sent to Amassalik. After wintering, he explored the coast to the north, including an examination of the Kangerlussuaq Fjord, known until then only from Inuit reports. Denmark Expedition
The Denmark expedition ( da, Danmark-ekspeditionen), also known as the Denmark Expedition to Greenland's Northeast Coast, and as the Danmark Expedition after the ship, was an expedition to the northeast of Greenland in 1906–1908. Despite being overshadowed by the death in tragic circumstances of the main exploration team, including three of the expedition's leading members: Ludvig Mylius-Erichsen (1872–1907), Niels Peter Høeg Hagen (1877–1907) and Jørgen Brønlund (1877–1907), the Denmark expedition was not a failure. The Princess Elizabeth Alps ( da, Prinsesse Elisabeth Alper) is a mountain range in King Frederick VIII Land, northeastern Greenland.
