Amagasaki Station (Hanshin)
is a junction passenger railway station located in the city of Amagasaki Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by the private transportation company Hanshin Electric Railway.While this station is situated relatively close to the station of the same name that is operated by JR West, passengers transferring between these two stations must use buses to transfer between trains. Lines Amagasaki Station is served by the Hanshin Main Line, and is located 8.9 kilometers from the terminus of the line at . It is also a terminus for the 10.1 kilometer Hanshin Namba Line. Layout The station consists of four elevated island platforms serving two tracks, with Track 2 sharing platforms with both Tracks 1 and 3, and Track 5 sharing platforms with both Tracks 4 and 6. Amagasaki Castle
was a flatland type Japanese castle located in the city of Amagasaki, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. The castle was the headquarters of Amagasaki Domain, which ruled this portion of northern Settsu Province under the Tokugawa shogunate of Edo Period Japan. The castle was destroyed in the early Meiji period, but a portion was reconstructed in 2018. History In October of 1578, Araki Murashige rebelled against Oda Nobunaga. In August of 1579 while surrounded by Nobunaga's military forces during the Siege of Itami (1579), Murashige fled to Amagasaki Castle. In November 1579, after Nobunaga secured control of Itami castle, "Araki Kyūzaemon and other leading figures, leaving their wives and children behind as hostages in Itami Castle, headed for Amagasaki to remonstrate with Araki Murashige and persuade him to hand over Amagasaki and Hanakuma." An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Amagasaki Station (JR West)
is a railway station on the Tōkaidō Main Line ( JR Kōbe Line), Fukuchiyama Line (JR Takarazuka Line) and JR Tōzai Line of West Japan Railway Company (JR West), located in Amagasaki, Hyōgo, Japan, opened in 1874. Until 1997, Amagasaki was only a local stop, but it has since become a major junction with the opening of the JR Tōzai Line. Today, all commuter trains and limited express trains bound for the Fukuchiyama Line stop here. Though Amagasaki is the official terminal of the Fukuchiyama Line and the JR Tōzai Line, all Fukuchiyama Line train services continue east to Osaka and beyond on the Tōkaidō Line or connect with the Gakkentoshi Line through the JR Tōzai Line.
