Alex Hardy
David Alexander Hardy (September 29, 1877 – April 22, 1940) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball in the early twentieth century. He played for the Chicago Cubs of the National League in 1902 and 1903. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. They began playing in the NCAA's Division I-A in 2001, became a football only member of the Sun Belt Conference in 2004, and joined that conference for all other sports in 2005.
