Alden, Norway
Alden is an island in Askvoll Municipality in Vestland County, Norway. The island lies off the mainland coast of the Sunnfjord region. The island sits a few kilometers west of the mouth of the Dalsfjorden, to the east of the Værlandet islands and about west of the island of Atløyna. The residents of the island live on the southern shore of the island. The only access to the island is by boat. There are no regular ferries that stop at the island. The nearest ferry stop is on Værlandet island, about to the southwest. The ferry at Værlandet travels to the village of Askvoll about to the east. The island is most notable for its tall mountain called ''Norskehesten''. The mountain dominates the island, giving it very steep coastlines. Vestland is a Counties of Norway, county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. Askvoll Municipality
is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Sunnfjord. The administrative centre is the village of Askvoll. Other villages in the municipality include Holmedal, Kvammen, and Stongfjorden. The most important industries in Askvoll today are ''Helle Knivfabrikk'' (a knife factory), ''Bulandet Fiskeindustri'' (fish industry), and ''Sigurd Løkeland Hermetikkfabrikk'' (a producer of crabs). Dalsfjorden (Sunnfjord)
Dalsfjorden is a fjord in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the municipalities of Askvoll, Fjaler, and Sunnfjord. It is one of the two main fjords that comprise the Sunnfjord region of the county. The fjord is about long and it is generally about wide. The Dalsfjorden is a narrow fjord that cuts into roughly eastwards from the village of Vilnes on the island of Atløyna in Askvoll municipality. Værlandet
Værlandet is an island in Askvoll Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The island lies immediately east of the Bulandet island group. The island of Alden lies about northeast of Værlandet. The island lies about west of the mainland coast of Askvoll, and it is only accessible by boat. There is a regular ferry route connecting Værlandet to the mainland village of Askvoll. There is a series of bridges that connect Værlandet to the islands of Bulandet to the west. Værlandet Chapel is located on the island. In 2001, there were about 200 residents on the islands. Atløyna or Atløy is an island in Askvoll Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. In 2001, there were 480 residents on the island. The island lies about west of the mainland coast, just west of the village of Askvoll on the mainland. The island has no road connections to the mainland, but there is a regular ferry route. Most of the inhabitants on the island live right along the coast. Askvoll is the administrative centre of Askvoll Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the western coast of the mainland, just north of the mouth of the Dalsfjorden in the Sunnfjord region of the county.
