Alaska (singer)
María Olvido Gara Jova (born 13 June 1963), better known as Alaska, is a Spanish-Mexican singer famous in Spain and Hispanic America. She was one of the founding members of the La Movida Madrileña, the cultural and artistic movement that followed the end of Francoist Spain. This movement, in which music, the arts, cinema and fashion erupted and collided to show what Spain had become under Franco. She has participated, since the late 1970s, in several music groups: Kaka de Luxe 1977, Alaska y los Pegamoides 1980, Alaska y Dinarama 1983, and since 1989, the Spanish electropop band, Fangoria. In music performances, rhythm guitar is a technique and role that performs a combination of two functions: to provide all or part of the rhythmic pulse in conjunction with other instruments from the rhythm section (e.g., drum kit, bass guitar); and to provide all or part of the harmony, i.e. the chords from a song's chord progression, where a chord is a group of notes played together. Carlos Berlanga
Carlos Berlanga, born Carlos García Berlanga, (11 August 1959 – 5 June 2002) was a Spanish musician, composer and painter. Berlanga was born in Madrid, Spain. Nacho Canut
Nacho Canut (5 June 1957 in Valencia, Spain) is the bass player and the main composer (along with Alaska) of the band Fangoria. He was also in the music groups Alaska y los Pegamoides and Alaska y Dinarama together with Carlos Berlanga and Alaska. He started his career with Kaka de Luxe in 1977, one of the first punk bands in Spain. Later, along with Berlanga and Alaska, Nacho Canut formed Alaska y los Pegamoides with Ana Curra and Eduardo Benavente. Alaska y los Pegamoides would become one of the cornerstones of La Movida Madrileña countercultural movement and an important influence for many Spanish punk bands. The name of the band was adopted along the line of Siouxsie and the Banshees (an important and recognizable influence in his music).
