Adolf Bredo Stabell (diplomat)
Adolf Bredo Stabell (12 August 1908 – 5 December 1996) was a Norwegian diplomat. He was born in Kolbu as a son of attorney Bernhard Dunker Stabell (1878–1929) and Dorothea Antoinette Platou (1883–1964). In 1938 he married American citizen Viola Catherine Jordan. Stabell was a brother of Peter Platou Stabell, a distant descendant of the newspaper editor Adolf Bredo Stabell and father of actress Thea Stabell. He took the examen artium in 1927 and graduated from the Royal Frederick University with the cand.jur. degree in 1932. He studied abroad, and was then a junior solicitor in Gjøvik and deputy judge in Nordre Hedemarken District Court between 1934 and 1937. In 1937 he was hired as a secretary in the Norwegian Ministry of Justice. He studied at Columbia University from 1939 to 1940, and then, during the Second World War, he served at the Norwegian embassy in the United States. Kolbu
Kolbu is a village in Østre Toten Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located in the traditional region of Toten, about to the southwest of the village of Lena, the administrative centre of the municipality. The village lies in the western part of the municipality in an agricultural area, not far from the municipal border with Vestre Toten. Kolbu Church is a cruciform church from 1730 that is located just outside the village centre. The village has a population (2021) of 648 and a population density of . Vestre Gravlund is a cemetery in the Frogner borough of Oslo, Norway. It is located next to the Borgen metro station. At , it is the largest cemetery in Norway. It was inaugurated in September 1902 and also contains a crematorium (''Vestre krematorium'') and chapel (''Gravkapellet''). The grave chapel was constructed in granite and clay stone and was designed by architect Alfred Christian Dahl (1857–1940). It was built in 1900 and consecrated in 1902. The Order of the Falcon ( is, Hin íslenska fálkaorða) is the only order of chivalry in Iceland, founded by King Christian X of Denmark and Iceland on 3 July 1921. The Imperial Order of the Lion and the Sun ( Persian: نشان سلطنتی شیر و خورشید) was instituted by Fat’h Ali Shah of the Qajar dynasty in 1808 to honour foreign officials (later extended to Iranians) who had rendered distinguished services to Iran. In 1925, under the Pahlavi dynasty the Order continued as the Order of Homayoun with new insignia, though based on the Lion and Sun motif. This motif was used for centuries by the rulers of Iran, being formally adopted under Mohammad Shah. The order is abbreviated as KLS, for ''Knight of Lion and Sun''. The Royal Order of the Polar Star ( Swedish: ''Kungliga Nordstjärneorden'') is a Swedish order of chivalry created by King Frederick I on 23 February 1748, together with the Order of the Sword and the Order of the Seraphim. The Order of the Polar Star was until 1975 intended as a reward for Swedish and foreign "civic merits, for devotion to duty, for science, literary, learned and useful works and for new and beneficial institutions". Its motto is, as seen on the blue enameled centre of the badge, ''Nescit Occasum'', a Latin phrase meaning "It knows no decline".
