Adams is a city in Adams County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,967 at the 2010 census. The city is located within the Town of Adams. History Adams was originally called South Friendship, but after a petition from residents who did not like the name, the Chicago and North Western Railway changed it to Adams due to its short nature. Adams was an American racing car constructor named after Clyde Adams. Adams had left his native Texas and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 20. Adams started working for Harry Miller, and built a reputation as a first-class metalworker. When Miller's business collapsed in the aftermath of the Great Depression, Adams set up his own business. He worked on a range of Indianapolis 500 vehicles from 1930 to 1950, as well as several speedcars. The Adams Company is an American manufacturing concern. It was founded in 1883 and is based in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. Between 1905 and 1912 it produced the Adams-Farwell, a brass era automobile. Adams was an English automobile manufactured in Bedford, England, between 1905 and 1914. Arthur Henry Adams had founded the Igranic Works in Bedford in 1899 to make electrical equipment. American-born Edward R. Hewitt had helped Sir Hiram Maxim to build a large steam plane in 1894. He later designed a "gas buggy" along the lines of an Oldsmobile and following agreement with Adams production of the car started in 1905 as the Adams-Hewitt. The Adams-Hewitt had a supposedly foolproof two, later three, speed-epicyclic transmission with a 1724 cc 10 hp single-cylinder engine located horizontally in the middle of the chassis driving the rear wheels by chain. Indeed, "Pedals to push, that's all" was used as the marque's slogan. Adams was an automobile introduced manufactured by the Adams Manufacturing Co. Ltd. from 1903 to 1906. It was developed by H. Adams, of Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England, who offered a conversion set that converted horse-drawn carriages into motorized automobiles. The engine was mounted on a swivelling fore-carriage, and steering was achieved through wheel and vertical column. Adams, officially the Municipality of Adams ( ilo, Ili ti Adams; tl, Bayan ng Adams), is a 5th class municipality in the province of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 2,189 people. Geography Adams is located in the northern part of the province. It is bordered by Pagudpud in the north, by Santa Praxedes, Cagayan in the northeast, Calanasan, Apayao in the east, Dumalneg in the west and Vintar in the south. Road access to the municipality is mainly from Barangay Pancian in Pagudpud, and can be reached only by motorcycle, not by tricycles or four-wheeled vehicles. Adams Island is the second largest island of New Zealand's Auckland Islands archipelago. Geography The southern end of Auckland Island broadens to a width of where a narrow channel, known as Carnley Harbour or the Adams Straits, separates it from the roughly triangular Adams Island (area approximately ), which is even more mountainous, reaching a height of at Mount Dick. Adams (lunar Crater)
Adams is a lunar impact crater that is located in the rugged southeastern section of the Moon, near the lunar limb. It lies just to the southwest of the crater Legendre. To the northwest are the craters Hase and Petavius, and to the southwest is Furnerius. To the southwest of Adams is a system of rilles designated the Rimae Hase. The longest of these rilles follows a course to the southeast. The rim of Adams is generally circular in form, but somewhat worn by small impact craters. There is a slight notched protrusion at the southern end of the wall. The floor is undistinguished, with no significant protrusions, and only minor craterlets.
