Action Girl Comics
''Action Girl Comics'' is a comic book anthology series, edited by Sarah Dyer. It features the work of female comic book creators, and is published by Slave Labor Graphics Slave Labor Graphics (SLG) is an independent American comic book publisher, well known for publishing darkly humorous, offbeat comics. Creators associated with SLG over the years include Evan Dorkin, Roman Dirge, Sarah Dyer, Woodrow Phoenix, Jh .... The most prominent recurring character is the eponymous superheroine Action Girl, an athletic teenage girl who thinks quickly and usually resolves conflicts with little or no combat. Some of her friends are also superheroines, including Flying Girl and Ultra Girl (formerly Neutrina). Other recurring characters include Gwen and P.J., both of whom are non-superheroic, as well as Susanoo the Brawler, a tempestuous girl related to the Japanese god. Slave Labor Graphics (SLG) is an independent American comic book publisher, well known for publishing darkly humorous, offbeat comics. Creators associated with SLG over the years include Evan Dorkin, Roman Dirge, Sarah Dyer, Woodrow Phoenix, Jhonen Vasquez, and Andi Watson. The first book Slave Labor Graphics published was ''ShadowStar'' #3, a female superhero character previously published independently by some of Vado's friends. Sarah Dyer
Sarah Dyer is an Americans, American comic book writer and artist with roots in the Zine, zine movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s. In 1998, ''Action Girl'' was awarded with the "Lulu of the Year" award of Friends of Lulu. Early life Dyer was born in Louisiana, went to college in Gainesville, Florida and then moved to New York City. She showed an early interest in self-publishing and the Do it yourself, DIY philosophy by self-publishing her own zines and making her own clothes. At the age of 10, she published the "family newspaper" with comics in it. Career Zines Dyer's first work was a small publication called ''The Silhouette.'' While in school in Gainesville, Florida in 1988, she worked on the ''No Idea'' fanzine with Var Thelin. Unsatisfied with not getting credit for her work to date, Dyer created ''Mad Planet'' as her first solo work, and started collecting female zine work. A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes.
