Abkhazian Premier League
The Abkhazian Premier League is the top association football league in Abkhazia. History The league was founded in 1994 and is not recognized by FIFA or any of its confederations, therefore the winners cannot participate in UEFA/ AFC competitions or World Club Cup. The league is overseen by the Football Federation of Abkhazia. It consists of 10 football clubs and there is no relegation/promotion system between the Abkhazian Premier League and the Second Division. Premier League clubs compete for the Abkhazian Cup annually, the leagues' domestic cup competition. Nart Sukhum is the champion team of the 2020 edition after adding 30 points, 10 wins and just 2 losses, the same campaign as the Ritsa FC team that was in second place, losing only in the tiebreaker criteria. The FC Dinamo Sukhumi team was in third place with just one point less than Nart Sukhum and Ritsa FC. The Football Federation of Abkhazia regulates football in Abkhazia. History The Abkhazian Football Federation was established in 1999. On 25 February 2004, it was announced that Nart (football team), Nart Vice President Gennadi Tsvinaria had won the election to succeed Vice President of Abkhazia Valery Arshba, Valeri Arshba as Chairman of the Football Federation. Sukhumi City Assembly Chairman Roman Gvinjia was elected Vice Chairman. In 2007, First Deputy Minister for Taxes and Fees (and later Interior Minister) Leonid Dzapshba became President of the Federation. In March 2012, former Dynamo Sukhum top player Jemal Gubaz was elected to succeed Dzapshba. On 8 September 2015, the FFA announced that the upcoming leadership election had been moved forward to October from the Spring of 2016, so as to leave more time for the preparation of the 2016 ConIFA World Football Cup, hosted by Abkhazia. FC Gagra ( ka, გაგრა) is a Georgian football club, which competes in Erovnuli Liga, the first tier of Georgian league system. The club has its origins in Gagra, Abkhazia. It was founded in Tbilisi by former player and coach Goderdzi Chikhradze and his cousin in 2004 with a plan to move the club to Gagra in the end, but due to the enduring Abkhaz–Georgian conflict the team plays its home games in Tbilisi.
