Aarathi (actress)
Aarathi (born 1954) is an Indian actress who mainly acted in Kannada films during the 1970s and 1980s. She has won the Filmfare awards South and the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actress four times each. After her retirement from films in the mid-1980s, she staged a comeback in 2005 as a director with ''Mithayi Mane'' which met with critical appreciation and also won her the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Children's Film. She was also nominated as a Member of the Legislative Council of the Vidhana parishad, making her only the second actress after B. Jayamma to be so nominated. Career After a short role in ''Gejje Pooje'' (1969), Aarathi starred as a leading actress in over 120 films including ''Naagarahaavu'', ''Edakallu Guddada Mele'', ''Bili Hendthi'', ''Dharmasere'', '' Paduvaaralli Pandavaru'', ''Ranganayaki'', ''Hombisilu'', ''Upasane'' and ''Shubhamangala''. Kushalanagar
Kushalanagara or Kushalnagar is a city located in the Kodagu district of the Indian state of Karnataka. Surrounded by Kaveri river, it is the gateway to Kodagu district. It also serves as the headquarters of Kushalanagar Taluk. By population, Kushalanagar is the second largest town in Kodagu district after Madikeri and the fastest developing town in the district. ''Hombisilu'' is a 1978 Indian Kannada-language romantic drama film directed by Geethapriya. It is based on the novel of the same name by Usha Navarathnaram. ''Sipayi Ramu'' is 1972 Indian Kannada language film directed by Y. R. Swamy, based on the novel ''Barale Innu Yamune?'' by Nuggehalli Pankaja. It stars Rajkumar, Leelavathi and Aarathi. The supporting cast includes K. S. Ashwath, Shivaram, Vajramuni and Thoogudeepa Srinivas. At the 1971-72 Karnataka State Film Awards, the film was awarded the Third Best Film and Best Actress (Leelavathi). Kasturi Nivasa
''Kasturi Nivasa'' () is a 1971 Indian Kannada-language drama film written and directed by the director duo Dorai–Bhagavan based on a story, ''Kasturi Nivasam'' written by G. Balasubramanium. It was produced by K. C. N. Gowda under the banner of Anupam Movies. The film stars Rajkumar as Ravi Varma, an extremely generous man, who succumbs to his intention of being generous no matter what happens. It also features Jayanthi, K. S. Ashwath and Aarathi in supporting roles. After Balasubramaniam wrote the story exclusively for Sivaji Ganesan, director K. Shankar and producer Noor was impressed. Sivaji Ganesan however refused citing that the film had a tragic ending. In early 1971, Chi. Udayashankar and S. P. Varadaraj chanced upon the project.
