ATP Vegeta Croatia Open
The Croatia Open (currently sponsored by Plava laguna) is a men's ATP tennis tournament held in Umag, Croatia that is part of the 250 series of the ATP Tour. The tournament began in 1990 when it was part of Yugoslavia, and is the oldest tennis tournament in Croatia. It began as the Yugoslavia Open and has been played every year since. It is played on outdoor red clay courts. Carlos Moyá has won the tournament a record five times; he also holds the record for the most consecutive wins at three. His most recent win was in 2007. In 2016, the centre court stadium was named after Croatian tennis player Goran Ivanišević. Umag
Umag (; it, Umago) is a coastal town in Istria, Croatia. Geography It is the westernmost town of Croatia, and it includes Bašanija, the westernmost point of Croatia. Population Umag has a population of 7,281, with a total municipal population of 13,467 (2011 census). Like many other towns in Istria, Umag has a multi-ethnic population. Croats, because of the exodus of many Italians after the Second World War, are nowadays an absolute majority with 59.6%; Italians 18.3%, Serbs 3.8%, Slovenes 2.2%, Bosniaks 1.7%, Albanians 1.3% and those regionally declared (as Istrians) make up the final 1.57%. Goran Ivanišević
Goran Ivanišević (; born 13 September 1971) is a Croatian former professional tennis player and current coach. He is the only player to win a Wimbledon singles title as a wildcard. He achieved this in 2001 while ranked world No. 125, after being runner-up at Wimbledon in 1992, 1994 and 1998. Ivanišević's career-high singles ranking was world No. 2, achieved in July 1994. He coached Marin Čilić from September 2013 to July 2016, leading Čilić to his only major title to date at the 2014 US Open. He has been coaching Novak Djokovic since 2019. Bohdan Ulihrach
Bohdan Ulihrach (born 23 February 1975) is a former professional tennis player from the Czech Republic. Career Ulihrach turned professional in 1993. He won his first top-level singles title in July 1995 at Prague, where he defeated Javier Sánchez in the final. His second followed three months later at Montevideo, where he beat Alberto Berasategui in the final. In 1996, Ulihrach was part of the Czech Republic team which finished runner-up at the World Team Cup. In 1997, en-route to his first hardcourt final at the Indian Wells Masters, Ulihrach beat the then-world No. 1, Pete Sampras. In the final, he was defeated by Michael Chang. Sergi Bruguera
Sergi Bruguera i Torner (; born 16 January 1971) is a former professional tennis player from Spain. He won consecutive men's singles titles at the French Open in 1993 and 1994, a silver medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in men's singles and reached a career-high ranking of No. 3 in August 1994. Bruguera is the only player to have a winning record against both Roger Federer and Pete Sampras. He won three of his five matches against Sampras: Bruguera leads 1–0 on hard court, 2–1 on clay, and Sampras leads 1–0 on carpet. In their only match, at the 2000 Barcelona Open, Bruguera defeated Federer 6–1, 6–1. By number of games won, the match remains Federer's worst loss in his entire career. Carlos Costa (tennis)
Carles ("Carlos") Costa Masferrer (born 22 April 1968) is a former professional tennis player from Spain. Costa turned professional in 1988. He was among the game's leading clay court players in the early 1990s. Costa was runner-up at the 1992 Italian Open, and reached the fourth round at that year's French Open and US Open. Additionally, Costa won the Barcelona Open, a tournament hosted by the tennis club where he grew up. In May 1992, he reached his career-high singles ranking of World No. 10. Costa retired in 1999. In April 2006 he played in the 2006 Seniors Torneo Godó event in Barcelona where he lost to Sergi Bruguera in the final. Karol Kučera
Karol Kučera (born 4 March 1974) is a retired ATP professional male tennis player from Slovakia. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 6 in September 1998, reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open the same year. In 2020, Kučera was elected an MP of the National Council of Slovakia representing the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities movement along with a fellow former tennis player Ján Krošlák and Romana Tabak. Alberto Berasategui Salazar (born 28 June 1973) is a former top-10 professional tennis player from Spain. He was a Grand Slam finalist at the 1994 French Open, and won a total of 14 ATP singles titles, achieving a career-high singles ranking of world no. 7 in November 1994. Franco Davín
Franco Davín (; born January 11, 1970) is a tennis coach and a former tennis player from Argentina. Davín won his first ATP-tour match at 15 years, 1 month against Hans Gildemeister in Buenos Aires. He holds the Open Era record for being the youngest player to win a tour level main draw match. Davín won three singles tournaments on the ATP Tour, and reached a career-high singles ranking of World No. 30 in October 1990. He coached fellow countryman Juan Martín del Potro until July 2015, and was the captain of the Argentine Davis Cup team. Under Davín's tutelage, Del Potro won the 2009 US Open, defeating Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals and Roger Federer in the final en route to the championship. Thomas Muster (born 2 October 1967) is an Austrian former world No. 1 tennis player. One of the world's leading clay court players in the 1990s, he won the 1995 French Open and at his peak was called "The King of Clay". In addition, he won eight Masters 1000 Series titles. Muster is one of the nine players to win Super 9/ATP Masters Series/ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles on clay, hardcourt and carpet.
