ATP Tel Aviv
The Tel Aviv Open is an ATP World Tour affiliated tennis tournament. It was played from 1978 through 1981 and 1983 through 1996 and was to be resumed in 2014, marking the end of the tournament in St. Petersburg, however, the 2014 edition was cancelled due to security concerns arising from the ongoing war with the neighboring Gaza Strip, the event was scrapped permanently in 2015. On June 21, 2022, it was announced that the tournament would take place in 2022, albeit in a different venue than previous editions. The tournament is held at the Israel Tennis Center in the Tel Aviv District city of Ramat HaSharon, Israel and is played on outdoor hard courts. The tournament was played as an ATP Challenger Series event in 1978, 1998 and 1999. Israeli tennis player Amos Mansdorf appeared in the final five times, winning in 1987, making him the only Israeli to win the event. Ramat HaSharon
Ramat HaSharon ( he, רָמַת הַשָּׁרוֹן, ''lit.'' '' Sharon Heights'', ar, رمات هشارون) is a city located on Israel's central coastal strip in the south of the Sharon region, bordering Tel Aviv to the south, Hod HaSharon to the east, and Herzliya and Kibbutz Glil Yam to the north. Aaron Krickstein
Aaron Krickstein (born August 2, 1967), nicknamed "Marathon Man", is an American former professional tennis player who competed on the ATP Tour from 1983 to 1996. He currently competes on the Outback Champions Series Over-30 tour. Krickstein reached his career high ATP ranking of World No. 6 on February 26, 1990. He achieved this ranking on the back of wins in Sydney and Los Angeles, as well as his best ever results at Wimbledon and the US Open. He is perhaps best known for his five-set, marathon loss to Jimmy Connors at the 1991 US Open, which ESPN called "an instant classic". Shahar Perkiss
Shahar Perkiss (born 14 October 1962) is an Israeli right-handed former professional tennis player. He reached his best singles ranking of world # 53 in March 1985. He peaked at world # 54 in the doubles rankings in November 1985. Perkiss won the silver medal in singles in tennis at the 1989 Maccabiah Games, but won the gold medal in doubles playing alongside Boaz Merenstein. Christoph Zipf
Christoph Zipf (born 5 December 1962) is a former professional tennis player from Germany. Biography A Munich-based right-hander, Zipf was the European Under 18s singles and doubles champion in 1979. He was also a member of the West German team which won the 1981 Galea Cup. During his professional career he was unable to qualify for the main draw at a Grand Slam tournament, but made two finals on the Grand Prix circuit. He partnered with countryman Hans-Dieter Beutel to finish runner-up at Cologne in 1982. The following year, Zipf reached the singles finals of the 1983 Tel Aviv Open, as an unseeded player. He lost in the final to American Aaron Krickstein. Zipf represented the West Germany Davis Cup team in three ties, all doubles matches. Shlomo Glickstein ( he, שלמה גליקשטיין; born 6 January 1958) is an Israeli former professional tennis player. He reached his career-high singles ranking of World No. 22 in November 1982, and his career-high doubles ranking of World No. 28 in February 1986. Harold Solomon (born September 17, 1952) is an American former professional tennis player who played during the 1970s and 1980s. He achieved a career-high world ranking of No. 5 in singles in 1980, and of No. 4 in doubles in 1976. Over the course of his career, he won 22 singles titles.
