ARIA Award For Best Dance Release
The ARIA Music Award for Best Dance Release, is an award presented at the annual ARIA Music Awards, which recognises "the many achievements of Aussie artists across all music genres", since 1987. It is handed out by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), an organisation whose aim is "to advance the interests of the Australian record industry." To be eligible, the recording (an album or single) must have been commercially released. The award is presented to an artist within the dance genre. The accolade is voted for by a judging school, which comprises between 40 and 100 members of representatives experienced in this genre, and is given to a solo artist, group, production team or various artist compilation, who is either from Australia or an Australian resident. The award for Best Dance Release was first presented to Itch-E and Scratch-E in 1995 for their single, "Sweetness and Light". Renegade Funktrain is an Australian groove band that formed in 1994. Renegade Funktrain was formed by former Sound Unlimited members Rosano and Tina Martinez along with Dereck Antunes. The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is a trade association representing the Australian recording industry which was established in the 1970s by six major record companies, EMI, Festival, CBS, RCA, WEA and Universal replacing the Association of Australian Record Manufacturers (AARM) which was formed in 1956. Pendulum (ambient Band)
Pendulum was an ambient house Australian group, active from 1994–1998. They are best known for their 1997 single "Coma". Career Pendulum formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1994 as a partnership between two Melbourne disc jockeys Julian Warner, Noel Mihailovic. In early 1995, Pendulum released their debut single, " I Need You", which reached #1 on Melbourne's Kiss FM Dance chart within three weeks of its release and it received major club play across the country. The song was released in USA on Fade records and in the UK on Foreign Policy. "I Need You" was followed by the single "Awesome Party/Insecurity". Vicious Vinyl described the song as "A mish-mash of beats, loops, funky guitar, banging synths and some crazy samples". In July 1997, Pendulum released "Coma" which peaked at number 32 on the ARIA Charts and featured in the Triple J Hottest 100, 1997. The 11th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as the ARIA Music Awards) were held on 22 September 1997 at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney. The event was hosted by Australian actor–comedian Paul McDermott, with presenters Elle McFeast, Kylie Minogue, Ben Folds, Colin Buchanan, the Presidents of the United States of America and others. Infusion (band)
Infusion were an Australian electronica band, originally from Wollongong which formed in 1995. They are best known for their ARIA Music Award-winning song "Girls Can Be Cruel" and '' Six Feet Above Yesterday''. Career 1995-2002: Early Days and ''Phrases and Numbers'' Infusion founding members, Jamie Stevens and Manuel Sharrad, met in 1988 at a local high school in Wollongong. Frank Xavier also hails from Wollongong, although he did not meet the other two until they had relocated to Sydney. Peewee Ferris is a DJ from Sydney. Ferris began mixing at an early age, being inspired by his older brothers Stephen and John who are also DJs. Ferris has headlined numerous events including the Big Day Out and Ministry of Sound and the Australian tours of The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Primal Scream, and Cream Tour, Godskitchen, Stereosonic, Future Music Festival, and many more.
