ACS Central Science
''ACS Central Science'' is a monthly peer-reviewed open access scientific journal covering chemistry and related fields. Its title refers to the phrase "central science", which has long been used to describe the role played by chemistry in connecting the physical sciences, physical and life sciences. Established in 2015, it is the first fully open-access journal published by ACS Publications, the American Chemical Society's publishing arm. The editor-in-chief is Carolyn R. Bertozzi (Stanford University). Chemistry is often called the central science because of its role in connecting the physical sciences, which include chemistry, with the life sciences and applied sciences such as medicine and engineering. The nature of this relationship is one of the main topics in the philosophy of chemistry and in scientometrics. The phrase was popularized by its use in a textbook by Theodore L. Brown and H.
