Elias Bandak
Elias Issa Bandak () (c. 1911 – 26 April 1972) was a Palestinian politician who was the mayor of Bethlehem from 1951–1952, 1953–1957, and 1962–1972, serving three separate terms. He succeeded his cousin Issa Basil Bandak. Bandak was a Palestinian Christian. Bandak died of cancer on 26 April 1972 at aged 61. Beit Jala
Beit Jala () is a Palestinian Christian town in the Bethlehem Governorate of Palestine, in the West Bank. Beit Jala is located 10 km south of Jerusalem, on the western side of the Hebron road, opposite Bethlehem, at altitude. In 2017, Beit Jala had 13,484 inhabitants according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics. About 80% of the population were Christians (mostly Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholic) and about 20% Muslims. In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town.
