Atla-Eeru Inn
The Atla-Eeru Inn () is a former inn in Juuru, Rapla Parish, Rapla County, Estonia. The inn building has been recognized as a national cultural monument. The building was built as a log house in 1811 and converted into an inn in 1841. During the Mahtra War, the Atla-Eeru Inn became a place where several gatherings of decisive importance took place. Here, by the light of a splinter lamp, the peasants of Atla, Rapla County, Atla and Mahtra studied the new Peasants' Law, which was the impetus for the protest. Early on they morning of June 2, 1858, several groups of peasants gathered at the inn, and together they headed to Mahtra. It was here, after the uprising, that the wounded were given first aid. Mahtra War
The Mahtra War () was a peasant insurgency at Mahtra Manor (now in Rapla County, from Tallinn) in Estonia in the Russian Empire from May to July 1858. The revolt was suppressed. Fourteen peasants were wounded and seven killed in the conflict, and three later died from their wounds. The military casualties included 13 soldiers wounded and one officer killed. Sixty of 65 peasants were sentenced to death by a court martial in Tallinn. Baltic governor-general Alexander Arkadyevich Suvorov later reduced the sentences of 44 peasants to corporal punishment, 35 of whom were sentenced to exile in Siberia, while the remaining 21 defendants were released. Atla () is a village in Rapla Parish, Rapla County, Estonia. It is located about northeast of the town of Rapla, just east of Juuru and northwest of Kaiu, by road no. 14 (the road from Kose to Purila). As of the 2011 census, the village's population was 81. The Mahtra Peasant Museum () is located in Rapla Parish in Rapla County, Estonia. It is a national institution of the Estonian Ministry of Culture and a national museum.
