Asociación De Guías Y Scouts De Costa Rica
The Asociación de Guías y Scouts de Costa Rica is the national Scouting and Guiding association of Costa Rica. Scouting was founded in Costa Rica in 1915 and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1935. Guiding started in 1922 and became a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1946. The association has more than 14,500 members of both genders. An interesting aspect of Scouting in Costa Rica is a University course on Scouting. This course is mandatory for all future teachers. The course highlights the educational value of Scouting. Scouting in Costa Rica has an emphasis on community service, rural Scouting and nature conservation projects. World Association Of Girl Guides And Girl Scouts
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS ) is a global association that supports Girl Guides, female-oriented and female-only Guiding and Scouting organizations in 153 countries. It was established in the year 1928 in Parád, Hungary. The organization now has its headquarters located in London, United Kingdom. It is the counterpart of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). WAGGGS is organized into five regions and operates five international Guiding centers. It holds full member status in the European Youth Forum (YFJ), which operates within the Council of Europe and the European Union. World Organization Of The Scout Movement
The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM ) is the largest and, after the Order of World Scouts (formed in 1911), is the second-oldest international organization in the Scout Movement, having been established in 1922. It has 176 members. These members are national scout organizations that founded WOSM or have subsequently been recognised by WOSM, which collectively have around 43 million participants. Its operational headquarters is in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, although it is legally based in Geneva, Switzerland.
