Ashley Slater
Ashley Slater (born 1961) is a Canadian-born British trombone player and best known for his narration on the television series '' Boo!'' as well as his work with Norman Cook (a.k.a. Fatboy Slim) in the band Freak Power. Career In 1983 after leaving the army, Slater attended the National Centre for Orchestral Studies, after which he joined the jazz orchestral collective Loose Tubes. Over the next few years he was the bass and tenor trombonist of choice for George Russell, Carla Bley, Andrew Poppy, El Sonido de Londres, Billy Jenkins, Django Bates and Andy Sheppard. Freak Power
Freak Power was a band founded by bassist Norman Cook (later known as Fatboy Slim), Ashley Slater (vocalist and trombonist), and backing vocalist Jesse Graham. Their music was a mix of acid jazz, funk, soul, and trip hop. Although not credited, the London-based session bass player Dale Davis recorded bass and guitar on their debut album ''Drive-Thru Booty''. Discography The single " Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out" was a minor hit on the UK Singles Chart when released in 1993. There was renewed interest in the track after TV exposure in the 1995 Levi's jeans television advert "Taxi" directed by Baillie Walsh. The band released two albums: '' Drive-Thru Booty'' in 1994 and ''More of Everything for Everybody'' in 1996. The debut album featured the hit singles "Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out" and "Rush", released on 4th and Broadway. ''Drive-Thru Booty'' is the debut album by British band Freak Power, fronted by musician, record producer and songwriter Norman Cook (later known as Fatboy Slim), singer, songwriter and trombone player Ashley Slater and vocalist Jesse Graham. Dub Pistols are an English electronic music band founded in 1996 by Barry Ashworth and Jason O'Bryan. Career The band's first singles were "There's Gonna Be a Riot" and "Best Got Better" in 1998. Iain Ballamy
Iain Ballamy (born 20 February 1964) is a British composer and saxophonist. He is considered one of the 25 greatest jazz saxophonists of all time and was featured as one of the world's all-time greats in ''BBC Music Magazine''s "100 Jazz Legends". ''The Guardian'' described him as "one of the world's distinctive saxophone voices". One of his closest musical collaborators is Django Bates. Career Ballamy was born in Guildford, Surrey, and educated at George Abbot School, Guildford, from 1975 to 1980. He then studied Musical Instrument Technology from 1980 to 1982 at Merton College.
