Asayama Ichiden-ryū
Asayama Ichiden-ryū (浅山一伝流) is a traditional Japanese koryū martial art school founded in 1566 during the late Muromachi period by Asayama Ichidensai Shigetatsu. Originally focused on atemi (striking) and gyakute (joint-reversal) techniques, it incorporates both unarmed taijutsu/jujutsu and weapons training including kenjutsu, iaijutsu, bōjutsu, and the use of a steel fan. The school was first taught in the Aizu domain and later spread, producing several branches such as Nagano-ryū in Japan and abroad. It remains a living tradition, with full-transmission (menkyo kaiden) lineages actively instructing students in both Japan and the United States.
