Arik Shivek (2)
Arik Shivek (; born 10 September 1956) is an Israeli professional basketball coach. He is the head coach of the Netherlands national basketball team. Shivek is also the former head coach of the senior Israeli national basketball team, serving from 2009 to 2014, succeeding Zvi Sherf. He coached ABC Amsterdam during the team's dynasty years, and won three Dutch national championships with the team. Shivek won the Israeli Premier League in 2016 with Hapoel Eilat. Coaching career Shivek started coaching in 1983, with Maccabi Netanya, and later moved to clubs such as Maccabi Ra’anana, Maccabi Ramat Gan, and Hapoel Tel Aviv. Coach Shivek is known for his calm and composed behaviour on and off the court. Hapoel (, ) is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Therefore, Hapoel became a member of SASI in 1927 and later was a member of CSIT. Bnei Herzliya Basket (, lit. ''Sons of Herzliya''), is a professional basketball club that is based in Herzliya, in central Israel. The club plays in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, the top division of Israeli basketball. History The club was originally founded in 1985, under the name Hapoel Herzliya. List Of Dutch Basketball Champions
The Dutch basketball champions, are the winners of the highest level of basketball in the Netherlands, which is the BNXT League since 2022. This page is a list of winners and runners-up in each given DBL season, along with additional information. Heroes Den Bosch has won a total number of 16 titles, the highest of any club. Zvi Sherf
Zvi Sherf (; born December 18, 1951, in Tel Aviv, Israel), known almost universally by his nickname Zvika (), is an Israeli former basketball player and professional basketball coach. Coaching career Sherf played basketball with the Maccabi Tel Aviv youth teams, starting at age 12. By age 16, Sherf was playing for Maccabi South Tel Aviv (the club's second side), and was sent to a coaching course, along with fellow future Israeli basketball coach Pini Gershon. By age 20, Sherf was coaching the Maccabi Tel Aviv youth teams, and by age 25, he was coaching Maccabi South Tel Aviv, leading it to his first championship. In the 1980–81 season, when Maccabi Tel Aviv won the EuroLeague, the Israeli League and the Israeli State Cup titles, Sherf was an assistant coach to Rudy D'Amico. The Israel men's national basketball team () represents Israel in international basketball tournaments. They are administered by the Israeli Basketball Association. Israel is currently ranked 39th in the FIBA World Ranking. Israel has qualified for the EuroBasket 30 times throughout their history. The Dutch Basketball League (DBL), formerly the Eredivisie, was the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands, run by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League. The league had a closed system: to participate, a team has to have enough money and potential. Liga Leumit (, lit. ''National League'') is the second tier level league of basketball competition in Israel. It is the league level that is below the first tier Israeli Premier League. The top 6 finishers will advance to the Top-teams League Group, and the rest of the teams will advance to the Bottom-Teams League Group. The 2015–2016 Israeli Basketball Super League was the 62nd season of the Israeli Basketball Super League. The regular season started on October 11, 2015, and ended on March 6, 2016.
