Kazakhstan is divided into 17 regions ( kk, облыстар/''oblystar''; singular: облыс/''oblys''; russian: области/''oblasti''; singular: область/''oblast). Kyzylorda Region
Kyzylorda Region ( kk, Қызылорда облысы, translit=Qyzylorda oblysy; russian: Кызылординская область, translit=Kyzylordinskaya oblast) is a region of Kazakhstan. Its capital is the city of Kyzylorda, with a population of 234 736. The region itself has a population of 799 533. Aral, also known as Aralsk or Aral'sk, (Kazakh: Арал, ''Aral'', ارال; Russian: Аральск, ''Araljsk'') is a small city in south-western Kazakhstan, located in the '' oblast'' (region) of Kyzylorda. Zhaksykylysh
Zhaksykylysh ( kk, Жақсықылыш; russian: Жаксыкылыш) is a salt lake in Aral District, Kyzylorda Region, Kazakhstan. Table salt is being mined in Zhaksykylysh since 1925. Nowadays the Kyzylorda-based Araltuz company carries out the salt-mining operations. Over 99% of the refined table salt produced in Kazakhstan is extracted at the Zhaksykylysh salt lakes, of which about 66% is exported. Geography Lake Zhaksykylysh lies about to the northeast of the Aral Sea in the western part of the Aral Karakum Desert region. The Zhaksykylysh Range, a mountain chain of moderate elevation, limits the lake to the northwest. A multitude of smaller lakes and salt flats fan-out to the east in the adjoining flat land. Aral Sea
The Aral Sea ( ; kk, Арал теңізі, Aral teñızı; uz, Орол денгизи, Orol dengizi; kaa, Арал теңизи, Aral teńizi; russian: Аральское море, Aral'skoye more) was an endorheic lake lying between Kazakhstan (Aktobe and Kyzylorda Regions) in the north and Uzbekistan (Karakalpakstan autonomous region) in the south which began shrinking in the 1960s and had largely dried up by the 2010s.
