Après Match
''Après Match'' is an Irish comedy show normally screened after competitive Irish soccer matches on RTÉ. It is performed by Barry Murphy (comedian), Barry Murphy, Risteárd Cooper and Gary Cooke. It grew out of Barry Murphy and Risteárd Cooper's ''Frank's Euro Ting'' sketches which first enlivened RTÉ's coverage of UEFA Euro 1996, Euro '96 for which the Republic of Ireland had failed to qualify. "Après Match" proper was born when Gary Cooke joined the duo and soon became a fixture following each of Ireland's qualifying games for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, 1998 World Cup. Barry Murphy (comedian)
Barry Murphy is an Irish people, Irish comedian whose notable appearances include a starring role in the satirical show ''Après Match''. As a member of Mr Trellis he founded The International Comedy Cellar, Comedy Cellar in Dublin in 1989. He mostly appears as his German alter ego Gunther Grun and was recognised as one of ''The 10 Kings Of Irish Comedy'' over the last twenty years by ''Hot Press''. Murphy hosted the 2002 Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTA) and was himself nominated for an IFTA for Script Television for ''Little White Lie (TV drama), Little White Lie'' in 2009 and ''Irish Pictorial Weekly'' in 2014. Richard Keys
Richard Keys (born 23 April 1957) is an English sports presenter who has worked for BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky, Talksport, Al Jazeera, Fox Sports, ESPN Star Sports and BeIN Sports; he has presented many top-level football matches. Career His career started in London in 1976 when he began working for the Fleet Street Sports Agency Hayter's until 1978, when he moved to Liverpool and worked at Radio City as a football commentator. In 1982, he moved to Manchester to work at Piccadilly Radio as sports editor and football commentator. In 1984 Keys moved back to London, where he joined the ITV network as one of the main anchors of breakfast show TV-am. While working at TV-am he also commentated on football matches for ITV and cycling for Channel 4, including two Tours de France. Kevin Keegan
Joseph Kevin Keegan (born 14 February 1951) is an English former footballer and manager. Nicknamed "King Kev" or "Mighty Mouse", Keegan was recognised for his dribbling ability, as well as his finishing and presence in the air, and is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. Keegan began his playing career at Scunthorpe United in 1968, before Bill Shankly signed him for Liverpool. Brian Clough
Brian Howard Clough ( ; 21 March 1935 – 20 September 2004) was an English football player and manager, primarily known for his successes as a manager with Derby County and Nottingham Forest. Trevor Brooking
Sir Trevor David Brooking (born 2 October 1948) is a former England national football team, England international Association football, footballer, manager, pundit and football administrator; he now works as director of football development in England. Jimmy Greaves
James Peter Greaves (20 February 1940 – 19 September 2021) was an English professional footballer who played as a forward. Regarded as one of the greatest strikers of all time and one of England's best ever players, he is England's fifth-highest international goalscorer with 44 goals, which includes an English record of six hat-tricks, and is Tottenham Hotspur's second-highest all-time top goalscorer. Greaves is the highest goalscorer in the history of English top-flight football with 357 goals. Ian St John
John "Ian" St John (; 7 June 1938 – 1 March 2021) was a Scottish professional football player, coach and broadcaster. St John played as a forward for Liverpool throughout most of the 1960s. Terry Venables
Terence Frederick Venables (6 January 1943 – 25 November 2023), often referred to as El Tel, was an English football player and manager who played for clubs including Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers and won two caps for England. As a manager, Venables won the Second Division championship with Crystal Palace in 1979. He reached the 1982 FA Cup Final with Queens Park Rangers and won the Second Division in 1983. Gordon Strachan
Gordon David Strachan ( born 9 February 1957) is a Scottish former football coach and player who is currently Technical Director of Dundee. He played for Dundee, Aberdeen, Manchester United, Leeds United and Coventry City, as well as the Scotland national team. He has since managed Coventry City, Southampton, Celtic, Middlesbrough and Scotland.
