Antonivsky Bridge
The Antonivka Road Bridge (), usually referred to as the Antonivskyi Bridge ( ), is a ruined box girder bridge on the Dnieper river in Kherson, Kherson Oblast, southern Ukraine. It became a flashpoint during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and was largely destroyed in November 2022. Design and construction The bridge had been planned since 1977. It opened on 24 December 1985. It was located in the town of Antonivka, Kherson Raion, Kherson Oblast and connected the town to the unincorporated settlement Dachi on Antonivskiy Island which is connected to Oleshky via route E97 and another bridge over the Konka river. 2022 Kherson Counteroffensive
A military counteroffensive was launched by Ukraine on 29 August 2022 to expel Russian forces occupying the southern regions of Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts. Military analysts consider the counteroffensive to be the third strategic phase of the war in Ukraine, along with the concurrent eastern counteroffensive, after the initial invasion and the battle of Donbas. The M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS ) is a light multiple rocket launcher developed in the late 1990s for the United States Army and mounted on a standard U.S. Army Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) M1140 truck frame. The HIMARS carries one pod with either six Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System rockets or one ATACMS missile. It is based on the U.S. Army's FMTV five-ton truck, and is capable of launching all rockets in the Multiple Launch Rocket System Family of Munitions. Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant
The Kakhovka Dam was a dam on the Dnieper River (also known as Dnipro) in Kherson Oblast, Ukraine, completed in 1956 and destroyed in 2023, which provided water for the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Station (). The primary purposes of the dam were hydroelectric power generation, irrigation, and navigation. It was the sixth and last dam in the Dnieper reservoir cascade. The deep water channel created by the downstream flow allowed shipping up and down river. The facility also included a winter garden. The R47 road and a railway crossed the Dnieper River on the dam. The Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant had a staff of 241 in October 2015. The director is Yaroslav Kobelya from September 2012.
