Anti Allas
Anti Allas (born 26 November 1977) is an Estonian politician. He was the mayor of Võru from 11 November 2013 to April 2023, and is the deputy chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDE) since 5 February 2022. Following the 2023 Estonian parliamentary election, he became a member of the Riigikogu. Education Anti Allas was born in Võru. He studied at Lepistu Basic School, Rõuge Basic School and graduated from Võru Kreutzwald Gymnasium in 1996. In 2000, he graduated from the Estonian Agricultural University with a degree in land management. Political career In the 2013 local government council elections, Allas was a candidate on the list of Social Democrats in the city of Võru and was elected with 479 votes. His vote share was the largest of all the candidates. Võru
Võru (; ; ) is a town and a municipality in south-eastern Estonia. It is the capital of Võru County and the centre of Võru Parish. History Võru was founded on 21 August 1784, at the request of the Empress Catherine II of Russia, by the order of Riga Governor general count George Browne, on the site of the former Võru estate as the center of the new county. From 1797 until today, Võru has been the administrative center of the surrounding region. In 1827, the Võru Town Hospital was opened and Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald, who lived and worked as a doctor in Võru from 1833 to 1877, also wrote the Estonian national epic " Kalevipoeg" in Võru. Valga County ( or ''Valgamaa'') is a first-level administrative unit and one of 15 counties of Estonia. It comprises the former area of Valga District. The present-day county was created on 1 January 1990. The capital and largest town of Valga County is Valga, Estonia, Valga, followed by Tõrva and Otepää.
