Anja Hirschel
Anja Hirschel is a Pirate Party politician and city councillor in Ulm, Germany, and has been since 2019. She is the Germany Pirate Party's lead candidate for the 2024 European elections. She is the successor of Peter Breyer in this position. She originally came to Ulm for computer science studies. She is a state-certified data protection officer and works full-time for an IT company, where she is a works council member. European Pirate Party
The European Pirates (PIRATES) or European Pirate Party (PPEU) is an association of parties aspiring to be recognised as a European political party by the European Union. It was founded on 21 March 2014 at the European Parliament in Brussels in the context of a conference on "''European Internet Governance and Beyond"'', and consists of pirate parties of European countries. The parties cooperated to run a joint campaign for the 2014 European Parliament elections. The founding meeting elected Amelia Andersdotter, Swedish Member of the European Parliament for Piratpartiet, as the first chairperson. The party's members elected to the European Parliament are in The Greens–European Free Alliance. In November 2020 new board was elected. German Pirate Party
The Pirate Party Germany (german: Piratenpartei Deutschland), commonly known as Pirates (), is a political party in Germany founded in September 2006 at c-base. It states general agreement with the Swedish Piratpartiet as a party of the information society; it is part of the international movement of pirate parties and a member of the Pirate Parties International. In 2011-12, the party succeeded in attaining a high enough vote share to enter four state parliaments ( Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saarland and Schleswig-Holstein) and the European Parliament. However, their popularity rapidly declined and by 2017 they had no representation in any of the German state parliaments. Elections to the European Parliament take place every five years by universal adult suffrage; with more than 400 million people eligible to vote, they are considered the second largest democratic elections in the world after India's. Until 2019, 751 MEPs were elected to the European Parliament, which has been directly elected since 1979. Marcel Kolaja
Marcel Kolaja (born 29 June 1980 in Moravská Třebová) is a Czech software engineer, Internet freedom and digital rights activist and a Czech Pirate Party politician who serves as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) since the 2019 election and Quaestor of the European Parliament since 2022. He is a member of the Greens–European Free Alliance parliamentary group along with three other European Pirate Party MEPs. Kolaja has been a member of the Czech Pirate Party since 2010 and the Vice-President of the Czech Pirate Party since 2022. From 2019 to 2022, he served as Vice-President of the European Parliament.
