Angus A. Buchanan
Angus A. Buchanan (January 28, 1861 – January 12, 1914) was a merchant and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Victoria County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1909 to 1914 as a Liberal member. He was born in St. Ann's, Victoria County, Nova Scotia, the son of Angus Buchanan. He married Mary Isabel McLeod. The Nova Scotia Liberal Party (officially the Liberal Association of Nova Scotia) is a centrist provincial political party in Nova Scotia, Canada and the provincial section of the Liberal Party of Canada. Victoria County, Nova Scotia
Victoria County is an historical county and census division of Nova Scotia, Canada. Local government is provided by the Municipality of the County of Victoria and the Wagmatcook 1 reserve. History Named after Queen Victoria, it was established by statute in 1851. Cape Breton County was divided into two separate counties in that year, with the northern portion becoming Victoria County. Like other parts of Nova Scotia, the county was sparsely inhabited by the Miꞌkmaq, who hunted in the area. The earliest settlers of Victoria County were almost exclusively Loyalists, with most arriving from the United States in the years following the American Revolutionary War. It was noted by historian G.G. John Gillis Morrison (November 17, 1863 – April 8, 1917) was a merchant and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. Angus Gladstone Buchanan (August 24, 1893 – September 12, 1960) was a fish merchant and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Victoria County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1920 to 1925 as a Liberal member. He was born in Neil Harbour, Nova Scotia, the son of Angus A. Buchanan and Mary Isabel McLeod. Buchanan was educated at the Halifax Academy and McGill University. In 1922, he married Katherine MacLeod. Buchanan later served as chief warden for Cape Breton Highlands National Park. He lived at Neil's Harbour, later residing at Ingonish Beach within the National Park.
