Alan Angus
Alan "Pete" Angus (1912–1988) was an Australian racing cyclist. Australian professional cycling career The highlight of Angus's cycling career was twice winning the Australian national road race title, in 1936 and 1937, by winning the Blue Riband for the fastest time in the Warrnambool to Melbourne Classic. The popularity of the Warrnambool was such that the handicap for a rider is a measure of the cyclists standing at the time, with the scratch mark being referred to as the "mark of honour". Angus had a handicap of 36 minutes in 1930, where he finished 131st in a time of 10h 21' 25" and 31 minutes in 1931. From 1933 to the end of his career Angus was riding off scratch in the Warrnambool. In 1933 he could only finish 131st in a time of 7h 00' 00". In 1935 Angus lost 4 minutes due to a puncture and finished 140th. After winning in 1937 Angus announced that he intended to retire unless he was selected to ride in the Tour de France. Stevland Dennis Angus (born 16 September 1980), is an English footballer. Club career Angus was born in Westminster in 1980 and began his career as a trainee with West Ham United, featuring in their 1999 FA Youth Cup win, and turning professional in August 1999. He was on the bench as West Ham won the 1999 UEFA Intertoto Cup. In need of first team experience, Angus joined League Two side AFC Bournemouth on loan in August 2000, making his league debut on 12 August 2000 in a 1–1 draw away to Bristol Rovers. He returned to West Ham after two months having made nine appearances for Bournemouth, but failed to break into the first team and was released at the end of the 2000–01 season. Samuel Angus (27 August 1881 – 17 November 1943) was professor of New Testament and Church History at St Andrew's College in the University of Sydney from 1915-43. Early life Angus was born near Ballymena, County Antrim, Ireland, the eldest son of John Cowan Angus, farmer, and his wife Sarah, née Harper. He studied at the Collegiate School, Ballymena, and won a scholarship to Queen's (University) College, Galway, receiving a B.A. in 1902 and an M.A. in 1903. Angus then studied at Princeton Theological Seminary and Princeton University, gaining his PhD in 1906. He was appointed as a chaplain of the Scotch Church in Algiers, before being elected to St Andrew’s College, University of Sydney in 1915.
