Andrzej Markowski (linguist)
Andrzej Markowski (22 August 1924 – 30 October 1986) was a Polish composer and conductor. He was born in Lublin and died in Warsaw. He was the director of the Wrocław Philharmonic from 1965 to 1968 and founded the Wratislavia Cantans festival and was its first director. On his initiative, the following festivals were also established: the Festival of Polish Contemporary Music in Wrocław, the Festival of Organ and Harpsichord Music, the Krakow Spring Festival of Young Musicians.EUTERPE 'Andrzej Markowski' http://www.euterpe.pl/nasi-autorzy/markowski-andrzej He was awarded the Minister of Culture and Art Award, 2nd class in 1965. Wrocław is a city in southwestern Poland, and the capital of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. It is the largest city and historical capital of the region of Silesia. Wratislavia Cantans
The Andrzej Markowski International Festival Wratislavia Cantans is a music festival held every September in Wrocław and Lower Silesia, Poland, organized by the Witold Lutosławski National Forum of Music in Wrocław. The name ''Wratislavia Cantans'' is Latin for "Singing Wrocław", and the festival from the beginning has focused primarily on presenting the beauty of the human voice. Each year, concerts attract thousands of music lovers to the concert halls of the National Forum of Music, the historic interiors of Wrocław and a dozen or so cities of Lower Silesia. The Polish Composers' Union (, ZKP) is a society of Polish composers and musicologists. History The association was founded in Kraków on August 29 or September 1, 1945 by the All-Polish Composers' Congress, as a continuation of the Association of Polish Composers founded in 1925. Warsaw was chosen as the headquarters of the association. In addition to the composers, since 1948 the association was also supposed to include musicologists, who formed a separate section.Historia. ''A Generation'' () is a 1955 Polish film directed by Andrzej Wajda. It is based on the novel ''Pokolenie'' by Bohdan Czeszko, who also wrote the script. It was Wajda's first film and the opening installment of what became his Three War Films trilogy set in the Second World War, to be followed by ''Kanał'' and '' Ashes and Diamonds''. Plot ''A Generation'' is set in Wola, a working-class section of Warsaw, in 1942 and tells the stories of two young men at odds with the German occupation of Poland.
