Andrew Evans (discus Thrower)
Andrew Evans (born January 25, 1991) is an American track and field athlete who competes in the discus throw. Born to Lawrence and Laura Evans he grew up in Portage, Michigan. He competed in ice hockey, American football and discus at high school. As a sophomore, 2007, Andrew finished as MI MHSAA D1 State Discus Runner-Up with a throw of 162'5". He also finished as All-State in Shot Put his sophomore year with a throw of 52'10.75". He is two time MHSAA Division 1 State Discus Champion (2008 - 180'8" & 2009 - 182'10") from Portage Northern High School, MI. Portage, Michigan
Portage is a city in Kalamazoo County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 46,292 in the 2010 census. It is the smaller of the two main cities included in the Kalamazoo-Portage Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 326,589 as of 2010. Russell Adam Winger (born August 2, 1984) is an American track and field athlete specializing in the discus throw and shot put. He competed in the discus throw at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing without qualifying for the final. In addition, he won the bronze medal at the 2015 Pan American Games and gold at the 2015 NACAC Championships. The men's discus throw competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was held at the Estádio Olímpico João Havelange on 12–13 August. Thirty-five athletes from 24 nations competed. Germany's Christoph Harting succeeded his brother Robert Harting to the Olympic title. "It was the first time in Olympic history, in any sport, that brothers succeeded each other as Olympic champions in the same individual event." It was also the nation's third victory in the event (excluding those won by East and West Germany). Poland's Piotr Małachowski took the silver medal ahead of another German, Daniel Jasinski. Małachowski had also won silver eight years before, making him the 16th man to win multiple medals in the discus throw. Athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics were held during the last 10 days of the games, from 12 to 21 August 2016, at the Olympic Stadium. The sport of athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics was made into three distinct sets of events: track and field events, road running events, and racewalking events. Competition schedule Track and field events were held at João Havelange Olympic Stadium, while the race walks and marathon start and finish in Recreio dos Bandeirantes and Sambódromo, respectively. Mason Finley (born October 7, 1990), is an American shot putter and discus thrower. He was on the track and field team at the University of Kansas before transferring to the University of Wyoming. He qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in discus. Early life Finley was born in Kansas City, Missouri.
