Andrejs Everitt
Andrejs Everitt (born 13 March 1989) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Western Bulldogs, Sydney Swans and Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is the younger brother of former , and Sydney player Peter Everitt. Everitt was picked in the 2006 AFL Draft at pick 11 from the Dandenong Stingrays. At the end of the 2007 AFL season, Andrejs was given Chris Grant's old No. 3 guernsey on Grant's insistence, although the club had contemplated retiring the number. At the end of the 2010 season, Everitt was traded to the Sydney Swans, in return for Patrick Veszpremi and a late round draft selection. Andrejs Everitt has a Latvian mother and an Australian father. His mother named him Andrejs in recognition of her Latvian heritage. Dandenong Stingrays
The Dandenong Southern Stingrays are an Australian rules football team in the NAB League, the Victorian statewide under-18s competition. 1992 saw the birth of the Southern Stingrays, developed under the leadership of Steve Kennedy (Regional Manager) and Ron Roach (Promotions Manager) with its home base located at Ben Kavanagh Reserve, Mordialloc. The side is coached in the inaugural year by Peter Russo. In 1995 the club moved from Mordialloc to Dandenong and it also changed its name to the Dandenong Southern Stingrays. The club is currently under the leadership of Darren Flanigan (Region Talent Manager) and Matthew Crozier (Female Talent Coordinator) with the home base located at Shepley Oval, Dandenong. The 2016 AFL season was the 120th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured eighteen clubs, ran from 24 March until 1 October, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs. Thirty-four players, seventeen of whom were still active in the league, missed the season through suspension by the World Anti-Doping Agency, for doping infringements which occurred at the Essendon Football Club as part of its 2012 sports supplements program. The season featured eighteen clubs, ran from 2 April until 3 October, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs. The premiership was won by the Hawthorn Football Club for the 13th time and third time consecutively, after it defeated by 46 points in the 2015 AFL Grand Final. The season was marred by the mid-season death of senior coach Phil Walsh, who was killed by his son in a domestic incident. Adelaide's following match was cancelled.
